In my opinion all surahs are essential for the holy month of Ramadan though people are known to pay particular attention to some. As for du'ahs, you just need more in the month as the chances of them been granted is higher! Ma Sallam! sallam all muslims

I went to the link provided by belloti and found my favorite hadith.
1) Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet said: "I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful." It was asked, "Do they disbelieve in Allah?" (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, "They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, 'I have never received any good from you." (Book #2, Hadith #28)

"Ali [Muhammad's adopted son, son-in-law, and future Caliph] said, ‘Prophet, women are plentiful. You can get a replacement, easily changing one for another.'"
Volume 1, Book 9, Number 493:
'Narrated 'Aisha:
The things which annual prayer were mentioned before me (and those were): a dog, a donkey and a woman. I said, "You have compared us (women) to donkeys and dogs. By Allah! I saw the Prophet praying while I used to lie in (my) bed between him and the Qibla. Whenever I was in need of something, I disliked to sit and trouble the Prophet. So, I would slip away by the side of his feet."'
Volume 1, Book 9, Number 498:
"Narrated 'Aisha: It is not good that you people have made us (women) equal to dogs and donkeys."
