If that relationship is based on pure friendship i.e. both parties are open to each other; there aren’t much of kisses, body contact, and anything that may cause an erection, then that relationship can last as long as possible without any of the parties thinking about sex because it would be more of a brother sister friendship. Honestly, i consider the relationship not to have started without sex. because some people are in an illusory relationship i.e the feeling is not mutual, there might be affection but no attraction.

Uchetobi, to add my own 2 cents, i once dated a girl i really like for like 2yrs and we never had sex, not that i was a virgin, but becaused i really liked her. I went away for NYSC for a year and things fell apart! me hitting the sack with another chick, and she doing God knows what. I've often wondered what went wrong, but eventually i guess we were not meant to be together. So i guess ultimately, sex or not, it depends on the two of you. Sex in a relationship is only as important as you make it, and is not the basis of a healthy relationship. If its ok with both parties, then why not.

I've been in my present relationship for close to a year now and so far my baby and I have managed to control our lust and sexual desires, though we usually cuddle and kiss and fondle every now and then. Well, everybody has his own ideas about sex and most of it is too simplistic. Now here is my views. Sex is a very complex phenomenon, that is why it is healthy to talk about it in the open, so people can learn to deal with it.
As i always say, "SEX IS IN THE GENES AND NOT IN YOU HEAD" and sometimes not even in your heart. that is why a man can love one woman and enjoy sex more with another, but it is best if both sex and love can be found in one individual.
Now, we have different sexual make up, Sex is controlled by homones and the homes starts setting in at the beginning of the teens. Each individual has different make up of homones accounting for differnent sex drives. So sexual compatibility is very important in any relationship. I know some married people that must have sex everyday, the patronise prositutes, mistresses etc ( Abacha and OBJ are other examples), while some people can go for years without sex.
I am not exactly for sex after marriage and i also dislike too much sex before marriage. if u sample the "honey" a couple of times and you like it, then "buy" it and take it home. But if u do not then look well before you sample the next one.
Let me end for now by giving an example of a real life situation.
I know a fine girl who got married through the regular church process of boy sees girl, boy talks to pastor and pastor matchmakes boy and girl. They got married after 2 years of courtship without sex (foridden in the church). On wedding night the boy could not "perform" he was frigid, he could not even have an errection. The girl was devistated. I do not know what the situation is now as i have moved out of the area, but i can imagine the argony the lady is going through.
