@ gigtite biotech is really where the money is in chemE these days, especially in california/the bay area with gentech and the other biotechs, renewable energy/sustainability is also hot, stuff like biofuels. also nanotech is on the rise as well i'm into alternative energy sources/reducing CO 2 emissions basically involving gas hydrates. oga seun please unlock the matchmaking thread o!  |

@ debosky, yeah im in the bay area so i guess biotech is all around me, maybe thats why im doing it, but does this translate into job opportunities?
im also interested in bioremediation and metabolic engineering, just messing around with different microorganisms so that they can achieve effective secondary biodegradation and produce drugs or sumn like
i heard materials science is really hot too
but how do i get into alternative fuels, with all this crude oil wahala, im thinking its the place to be

alternative fuels is hot as well, but its mostly research based for now, fuel cell technology and hydrogen production are the main areas
under study now. both are developing, but i think fuel cells have a slight edge in that they should be available earlier than hydrogen cars
do some online checks and see, the fuel cell thing is really big at my school, there's even a research center devoted to it here.
