3. BEST FEMALE - Wahu (Kenya)
4. BEST GROUP - P-Square (Nigeria)

11. MAMA LEGEND AWARD - Fela Kuti (Nigeria)

The awards ceremony was held in Abuja, Nigeria on Saturday, November 22 where the winners were announced. Winners were selected by fans sending text messages, said Alison Reid, a spokeswoman for MTV Networks Africa.

There were performances by Nigeria's Seun Kuti, South Africa's Jozi as well as the Nigerian football superstar, Jay Jay Okocha. Wait, for real? Okocha? What did you do? Juggle a football? Seems like that's what he did. The USA's Kelly Rowland also performed with Nigeria's D'Banj.

What made a mockery of the awards are many but two stand out:

1. Wind am well winning best video,  were they high??? This is a video that shouldn't have been nominated in the first place. This is not even the best video from his record label, so by what strech of the imagination does it end up been the best in Africa.

2. Nateo C winning best new act Over 9ice,  hmmm How?Huh

So much for credibility.

Is 9ice the best hip hop act in africa? haba MTV,  oga ooo,  if they think 9ice deserve something,  best traditional act is better,  this is no beef,  where is ruggedman,MI,and other artists in africa which u and i dont know,  they made it worst by making him winner over almighty lil wayne, MTV AFRICA MUSIC AWARDS INDEED,
