Dayokanu, you are too much. I have always respected you. In fact when I wanted to start the thread, I wanted to end it with " oya dayokanu and others, this is a big test for you". But I decided not to mention any name.

You have again shown your class as an incisive and informed football follower.
I doff my hat!!!

Oya, others let's see how creative you are!!!

Not as creative as you think  - no one in his right mind would play Van Hoiijdonk on the wing, thats akin to playing Shearer as a winger.

Van Bommel at CB is also a bit tenuous. Nice attempt though.

Did you notice that this team has 10 players?  Maybe one of them got red carded.

Who told you Van Bommel can't play center defence? Did you see Alex Song in central defence, John O'Shea, Essien or Even Mascherano

Did you ever see Rooney on the wings? This formation might be used when the team have to score and they throw caution to the wind which happens several times in football. I have seen mourinho play 4 striker on the field at the same time

That formation can be modified to 3-4-3   Buyten Bonchorst, Meyde-  Bommel, Vaart, Persie, Vossen- Hooijdonk, Nistelrooy, Basten All son of Van!!!

Funny enough these people can't come up with their formation

Have you ever seen Rooney as a winger? or odonkor as a right full back Germany Croatia (Euro 2008), Solari as left back,

If you have seen such situations and you still write this drivel than you are really insane.

@ criz,

Why do N'lander just hate tell them to bring their own formation they wont Sauron is too dull to cope with such rigorous mental exercise

Thinking I came up with this in less than 15 minutes

Shut your diseased mouth and admit u goofed.
Seen Rooney as a winger ma ass. . . . .When did Rooney ever play as a winger??
Playing wide right in a 4-3-3 formation does not make Rooney a winger. . . .Wingers only come into play in a 4-man midfield.
Are Ronaldinho and Messi wingers are forward men? Bloody he-goat.

Van Der Meyde as a RB. . . . . . .Theo Walcott has a better chance playing as a centre half!!!
You are even chuffed to have come up with the simplest mental exercise using VAN(the most common name prefix in the football world).
Try the names John or Emmanuel and come up with a famous starting XI, bloody swine!!!
Ma puppy coulda done better than the hokum u typed above.

Listen DK, there is no attempt at a pull down here. I said 'nice attempt' didn't I?  Huh

Comparing Van Hooijdonk to Rooney is a tad tenuous, V-H is a BIG CF like Shearer, not similar to Rooney - such players never get played out on the wing.

Van Der Meyde as a RB is possible - a winger can conceivably be a wing-back.

Your second description of a 4-3-3 is more apt, that is an acceptable formation in my view.

Do I need to come up with a formation of mine to critique? That is such a Nigerian thought process - your critiquing their work means you can't produce something better.  Tongue

Go and watch Germany vs Croatia. Odonkor played as a right back Solari played as a left back for Real several times.

Bommel as Defender?   Did you see essien as a defender or Alex Song for you EPL fans?

When you don't watch football all you do is to come here to spit your drivel  How did Kolo Toure get to central defence? wasnt he a midfielder when he came to Arsenal

Goof!! When I did not see kahn In Goal against Croatia in France 1998 or see Zidane winning European footballer of the year or Leeds winning Champions cup.

Sauron, in fact you shouldnt be looking out for peoples GOOFs because you have broken all records. I have all the quotes to the above statement!!!

@ debo,

Can you remember this last Olympics? Did you see Solomon Okoronkwo a Giant Like VH on the wings? Sia sia played with 4 strikers. Osaze, Promise, Okoronkwo, Obasi and Nsofor(Who Plays to the wings too)

Watch the last olympics again

@ All,
Pick any of my positions and lets debate i would tell you situations where these have occurred in Real football games

Stop foaming in the mouth like a camel undergoing manual castration!!!!

The issue is NOT about Essien or Alex Song. . . . . .It is about Van Der Meyde playing as a RB.
Until u tell us when he played as a RB or when Van Hooijdonk played as a winger, your arguments are flawed.
I can as well put Cristiano Ronaldo in goal in ma team just because i have seen O'Shea play as a holding midfielder/left back. . . .
