hi guys you are really trying its quite a very interesting thing to see youn nigerians developing themselves well i really have a knowledge of this
here is a little about html
its an application thats makes up the whole programs let me say its the mother of all program like C++, PHP, ASP, PYTHON E.T.C
all thse progammes are being interperated through the help of HTML well it is Simply Call "HYPER MAKE UP LANGUAGE"
to start this
Go to your Browser (for internat explorer) click on "view" then on the display menu click on "View source"
then you will see the source code of this page you are using now

hey wait! the page you are viewing has many thing behind it like php and other scripts that made it up but with the help of plugins it was trnslated direct to HTML
What are the inportance of html?
well below is a sumary of its importancy
its the cheapest and easy learning codes
its the mother of other codes
its search engine friendly!
i think i will stop here
lets to go to search engine friendly
it helps search bots to crawl easily over your documents and files
thereby letting them to  cache it and them re-translate it to uers when searching
i think i will stop here
in our next edittion we shall discuss on the tutorials
but if you can't wait you may ask me questions in this webamster's forum

A good and serious minded PHP programmer serious is wanted for a joint venture. Terms of venture to be mutually agreed upon and legally documented and binding on all parties. The project is big but with very little or no capital base. knowledge is the initial investment. blog on this forum for reply or call/text 08023162076. You call equally mail vickoy23@beezeedee.com

Need not to say that it is urgent. ofcourse you know. if you know someone who might be interested too let him/her contact

Hai to all Naija boys and babes especially fellybabe, i am Tony Ogundipe, an upcoming software programmer and website designer. i have not been around online for a while.

Meanwhile my html, css, jscript library is undergoing modification but is still accessible at [www.dhtmlonline.com/library][/www.dhtmlonline.com/library]
Later, most likely by this december or january, i am going to add some materials that will aid you guys in website design especially scripting. For now, you can send a mail to support@dhtmlonline.com for any questions regarding html, css, php, perl, mysql, visual basic 6.0,c,c++,vc++. I can see there are lots of teachers in this zone. Please, beginners, try to make your questions clear and concise.

I suspect that professional web site designers feel bored when it comes to teaching basics such as

<img src="http://www.dhtmlonline.com/logo.jpg" width=100>

I advise newbies to just check sites like www.w3schools.com, then if you are not clear, you can bring your questions here. I for one may be able to help you. But then @my2cents seems to up to the task, the guy is simply too experienced.

@my2cents, i found your post on nigerian cyber cafe quite interesting.

Re: Designing A Website: For Beginners
« #210 on: January 01, 2008, 05:02 PM »

nope,

that is a scrolling marquee (the html tag enclosing it says so Wink).  If you insist it is a "scrol  bar", have it your way  Cool

Perhaps we are looking at different things?  Who knows?

I think (and I could be wrong) on the falcons site, those figures are hardcoded.  Either that or they have a script that goes out and fetches the figures, then displays the results on the screen.  You might want to look at a more detailed stock list by using this:
Code:
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://www.africancapitalmarkets.com/stock/reports/daily/marquee3.php"></script>

In the case above, the guys at african capital markets have already done the work for you.  All you need do is copy and paste.

I hope this helps.  If not, then we are definitely talking about 2 different things  Grin

Learn How To Create Simple Websites Without HTML!
« #218 on: March 06, 2008, 11:02 AM »

Dear Friends,
This is Emmanuel Ayomide Praise from Global Net Cash International.
How are you all? It's been quite a little while that we have been in touch. How is at your end? I hope you are all doing great.

Global Net Cash International, Africa's leading one-stop ecommerce and internet solutions company now offers willing Nigerians a rare and uncommon opportunity to start creating simple WEBSITES without complicated HTML or graphic designs, softwares and codings.

From our recent research, a large percentage of Nigerian internet users love to have their own websites, either for themselves, or their businesses, churches, foundations, NGOs, religious bodies, social networks, cooperative organisations, clubs e.t.c

However, many people can not afford to get a website or just think it is too clumsy or difficult. From experience, I have however discovered that it is very easy to create a website without much clumsy graphics or HTML and then go on to host this website on the World Wide Web(WWW).

In this special one-on-one training program, I will be teaching the following:
*How To Create Simple Websites Without HTML or Graphics
*How To Buy Your Domain Names Online(domain names are the website addresses that you use to locate a site online e.g www.yahoo.com <http://www.yahoo.com>)
*How To Register Your Own Domains(e.g www.folake.com,www.dennisjames.com e.t.c)
*Where To Get Free E-mail Hosting Package Along With Your Personalised Domains e.g folake@folakeumosen.com, dayo@dayoadeneye.com e.t.c)
*How To Locate The Most Reliable Web Hosting Companies Online
*How To Get Free Websites Under Other People's Domain e.g www.emmanuelayomidepraise.4t.com <http://www.emmanuelayomidepraise.4t.com>
*How & Where To Get Over 200 Web Design Templates & Download Them Free Of Charge.
This SPECIAL training is available for just N10,000 only running from 1st-31st March 2008.
Venue is the well equipped Iyknel Cybercafe @ Yemosa Plaza,Beside Big Treat Bread, Egbeda, Lagos.

baslone:

1) Make sure the pdf file in question is actually loaded on your server and note the path to get there
2) Add this code to your file: <a href="<path to pdf file>/pdf_file.pdf" title="<what the file is>">Click here to download this file (PDF: <file size>)</a>

Note:
1) The title attribute is optional but a good idea for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) purposes

2) The "(PDF: <file sizes>)" is also optional but is a nice idea so people know how large the file they want to download is, especially for those with slow internet connections

3) You might also want to include a link to adobe's adobe reader download site for those who don't have that installed

4) I would also recommend you add the "target=_blank" to your anchor (a) tag - not doing so will cause the user to leave your page as the pdf loads.  This may not be a good idea if you are trying to sell something for instance and the user leaves your site and consequently, may never return.  Opening the file in a new window ensures that even if the user wants to close all windows, at least they have that one more chance to look at your site again Wink

I hope these help

Re: Designing A Website: For Beginners
« #223 on: March 18, 2008, 11:25 AM »

bas,

I think your link might not work?  Why? I see a "_private" there.  Is that a directory you created or what came with your web hosts?  Just curious.  Also, I would tack on a "target=_blank" within the anchor tag so as not to remove focus from your site when a visitor clicks to download the zip file.  Chances are, it will open in a new window anyways, but being a paranoid person, I always tack on the target attribute.  Besides, a few extra characters won't add a considerable amount of MBs to your sites bandwidth anyways.

Other than the issues stated above, I don't see any reason why that link wouldn't work.

I am glad to have been of usefulness.
