It isn't really a scholarship. It's more like a discount.  You will stil pay, but not the full amount. Out of N250,000, u may be told to pay N150,000 depending on your grade . . . you see?

I have written the test once.  The questions are cheap. Good luck in your test.

The exam is basically aptitude test. They are cheap as already hinted by Jire. Your grade will eventually determine the amount of rebate that you will get. It's nothing really to be bothered about. I think it's more of a market strategy than a scholarship. Just make sure you answer all the questions to the best of your ability so that you can at least have the maximum rebate, usually about 50%. Best of luck!

It is not really a scholarship! Yes if you do well in the exam you will be given a discount in the fee you hasve to pay.
I have written the exam before and i got A+ and instead to paying about N240,000 for the programme i wish to go for i was asked to pay N120,000.

I hope that answers your question. OK

It is an aptitude test.

I think NIIT scholarship is more like a fraud. I was formerly their student sometimes in 2004. The thing is no matter how poorly you perform u still get a scholarship - its just a business strategy.

Imagine payin N175,000.00(exam fees not included) for trainin Oracle 9i and the bas/tards say its scholarship. My advice if u get money to pour(its good though), but , i f your wise, get a good, even better center, pay less, learn more, and use the remaining money to at least get a LAPTOP.

@javaprice,
man,  thanks for your views here on this NIIT issue, i have been going through what you said and it appears to be true. i am looking into taking the exam too, but i do like to know what takes, from the way you sounded it appears its a big waste of time and funds. Now I would like you to enlighten me more on the best way to go about getting certified please. I do really appreciate it. Pls email me:  chuckndee@gmail.com

Thanks and look forward to hearing from you.

« #29 on: June 24, 2008, 09:48 AM »

@Chuckdee
You need to ask yourself, "Why do I wan to be certified?". Its possible for you to have certification and still be underemployed(A situation wherby the work u are assigned does not require the certifications u did).

Let me emphasis this, to be certified and been able to defend it, requires some form of FORMAL training especially for those that are new in the I.T realm. So my advise for you, is to go to any of the Following places (NIIT, FirstLogic, APTECH, KARROX, theres' this one at Ikeja after awolowo house(forgotten the name though), make your enquiries compare the prices and then dedicate urself for the training. Discuss with other professionals in the field, Buy and read books, then finally when u have understood the course at least up to 80%, u can then get a DUMPS and testing software, finally go and Write the EXAMS.

At the end of the day, U are Certified, understand the course, and u still have some change(or LAPTOP).

Finally, ask yourself "Why do I want to be certified", "How does it apply to my field of study, or my Interest". Imagine an accountant/doctor doing a training  on Java. He is either giving up his profession(i.e medicine/accountancy) or wasting his time.

Hope this will help you.

not like i'm discouraging anyone from going to NIIT o, through out ma stay there i've come up with this conclusion, if your reason for going to NIIT is for certification, then no need paying all those high fees, dude, just talk to other guyz, i am assuming u have a prior knowledge on what certification u're going in for. if thts the case get the materials for the exams including dumps and simulators, practice with these things and go for the exam, u'll save lotsa time. not discouraging any from going to niit o, i'll personally recommend NIIT for young school leavers, i finished sec school and bad enough at tht time no nigerian university offered my course so i had to go to NIIT, spent about three years there and migrated (with the honours diploma i got from there) to the British Open University. i'm now a final year student of the open university studying software engineering, and good enough all classes are online so i dont have to travel far and wide to get my foreign degree.
