@Salamander,
Strange the W3A bit as i have it on the small dishes but not on the motorised, signals for other birds in the KU range come in at around 80% Pretty strange, would you mind passing round at your leisure so we check it out?!
And on the Atlantic Bird do not get carried away that was atlantic bird 3 not 4!

@idyday
Two things to check for please replace the batteries in the remote, they may be causing the delay in response.
Second thing is if after changing the battery you still don't get signal try replacing the receiver. However i alslo suspect you may be using the wrong transponder , these days 12722 misbehaves badly you may wanna try 12669 or something like that and its H last week i got 80% on that transponder.
Good luck

@Fofo
Thats not Daarsat on 901 its AITV they simply do Daarsat advert. at least that's what i noticed when i watched it. Its got different transponders that go on and off at different time sof the day. AITV Lagos, UK and US are on 3 different transponders. They just advertise copiously for Daar

@idyday
12644 H
tp 16
2170-1/2
I think its a feed. Thats why its not familiar. However, as you may have noticed there is a slight variation between my 12669 and this 12644 which lyngsat displays.
12682H is also pretty high SR 26657. I am sure your receiver should have that. Thats Emmanuel TV
12575V is also pretty high SR 3378 Thats Mana Africa
Please try those and report back to the forum
Good Luck

@idyday.
If you are in Accra shoot for the sun right now. In Nigeria please shoot for the immediate left of the sun there is no way you can miss PAS7/10. Thats the satellite location. Use the sun.
Now 12722V is funny it goes on and off. At time it changes to 12722H i have even once noticed that the frequency for the same chanels etv etc was completely different. Don't kill yourself with that transponder. Forget it and use the ones i just gave you.

Ecowas4all  yes i do get w3a.it's funny how mbc, one of the weakest tps, is one of the strongest with up to 70% quality.generally w3a is one of the weakest birds(my opinion).i use 1.8m pan.ku band reception better with pan and cband better with mesh(i stand to be corrected).u may also try playing with the polarities.most of the channels i have,if not all,are on h.i even got an etv feed  and globcast i.e vox africa e.t.c on w3a(i am 100% sure they are not from sirius).  I've also seen the crtv ads in town but i dont know much about it though i pick it up with 98%

@Captain US
Well i am sure i should look for my W3A predicament at the level of my mesh dish. I am surprised though as i pick other KU channels on my mesh often with 80% quality so i am sure it brings some doubt into your hypothesis

@Salamander
U said you pick W3A on your motorised, is it a mesh dish you have?

« #3150 on: March 03, 2009, 11:38 AM »

@Captainus
etv feeds and globecast are on sirius4 and not w3a. Perhaps you receive them on your position for w3a because of big dish.
@idyday
sometime it is easier to do your tracking using w4(dstv) as a reference. 1. Track dstv on 12169H 27500 and note the position. 2. Then input your 7/10 frequency and track a bit left or right of dstv position. Also note that the angle of elevation of 7/10 is lower than w4. 7/10 appears to face downwards. Good luck.

I am hibernating for now. However, I have contact of two guys in Warri that can do the installation for you. Installation fee is 2,000 naira if you are not doing it yourself.
Antenna is 3,000 naira
Mounting pole is about 2,000 naira.
Cable is 1,000
Since you already have a receiver you have skipped 8.500 naira.
Do not use the power pack that comes with the antenna.
Just combine the google group information plus above plus the above. Very simple. Abi?

@BUTONEDAY,
Thanks for the info. I've been so busy these past couple of days with my mesh 2.5 motorized. I thought
I should give it a shot while waiting for adewest to come for the fibre.
The panorama stuff looks apealing but I'm thinking it may not last long given the amount of interest
it is already generating. Can you imagine that almost every installer in town knows about it already?
Everywher you go, people are talking aboput it. So as you can expect the service providers may be
working round the clock to block the loophole as we speak.
That said, we should all enjoy it while it lasts Smiley

@adewest,
Thanks for your support on phone. The scaler ring was modified to carry the 3 lnb set-up
as discussed. I'm still trying to find a way around the problem with tracking western birds.
But so far I have good reception (very sharp on the non-dielectric) and even with the dielectric.
I'm cutting a glass today to replace the original one and let me see if I can get CNN up to 70%
or 80.
I will post a pix of the set up tomorrow, maybe, or will it be in season 3? Grin

All,
    Advise to those having problems tracking W3a, W6 and Sirius 4 . For your information signal on those birds  I just mentioned are very unstable. for xample speaking from experience, sometimes most of the channels would just decide to disappear for a day or  two or sometimes for weeks, so what you need  do is pick up your telephone and call those that are watching at the moment to confirm what frequency is up so as not to waste your precious time and energy using a frequency that is down. This will save u a lot of stress.

@Captainus
thanks for pointing that out. The movement of these stations from one sat to another  is quite funny. The signal of sirius4 is far stronger than w3a and can be gotten on 60cm dish with ease. I wonder why stations will move from high signal to low signal bird

@ecowas4all,
I'm not surprised you're having difficulties tracking w3a. It happened to me
too yesterday. I tried every other frequency no luck until I used the free2view
transponder. Since you're on motorised, first locate your sirius 4 position.
Then input this frequency: 12728V 30000SR. Backtrack with your positioner
going east from your sirius 4 position. You will have your green. Do it slowly
or else you will miss it.
