i agree wit u. they are ripoffs. i have used 3 of their phone 4 internet access. after 20 or 30 min it stops working. i hope that is not u guys are facing? i wonder what NCC is doing to this. anyway when "ghana must go" has changed hand, what do u expect. Jim Ovia of all people to have imported such sub standard products into d country. I think NCC needs to be petitioned. Or what do u think?

@fxmaxony visit www.visafone.com.ng to view a list of their packages and the prices. the lowest for 24hrs is N9,500. for those of you that started suffering poor internet access yesterday (friday), y'all lucky. my own started misbehaving since wednesday, past 4pm and up till now, my frustration keeps increasing. called customer care few minutes ago only for the lady to tell me that there's some sort of problem, stretched across the country and they're still working on it. there's not even a date when she thinks it will be back up. unfortunately, we the customers are always going to be at loss. no prior notice and no compensation. i am still pissed!

@ visafone user
Visafone and starcomms which one is better in terms of speed?

I will personally guarantee you the new Starcomms Izap. At N10-12000 per month, its even cheaper than the one provided by visaphone. Also, the speed is incredible. Imagine downloading a file at 200-400 KB/S (yes o! Kilobytes not bits). Thats your minimum speed o. I have never for once trusted visaphone. I always thought there was something fishy about them. I pity the ones subscribing to their network. Check out the Starcomms Izap thread for more info http://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-155069.0.html

@Samir101ng The problem with starcomms izap is availability. They only have evdo coverage in 3 locations (as at the last I checked: Lagos, Abuja, PH) & the coverage in these places is not comprehensive. So, may be you should add subject to availability in your post. Though, I dont know about visafone's own evdo coverage.

visaphone has evdo in lagos and abuja. why is it taking these cdma operators so long to provide wider evdo coverage? what's really holding them back?

Me thinks it's simply down to lack of competition. The data package of the cdma operators is primarily targeted at single individuals. The isp's (mainly those providing wifi services) are not offering anything better (at a reasonable price). The gsm companies? Same story. If Mtn which (arguably) has the best 3g coverage increase their download cap from 3gb to say 7gb or 10gb monthly, presto. You go see as starcomms, visafone and the rest go dey launch evdo everywhere.

@next. where is your location and what download speed you get.
I'm in Yaba. I don't do serious multimedia downoads but I get between 15kbps and 35kbps but it could be slow at times but that is very rare; drops to like 7kbps which will still do email and surfing without issues.
