Info on LCD Monitors

I have been doing some research on LCD monitors that i want to buy for some people, but am a little bit worried about the Refresh Rate on some of the LCD monitors. Am looking at a Refresh Rate of 25 ms and above.

Kindly share your experience with these LCDs and help me out.  Waiting for your contribution(s).

You want a flat panel monitor that is really sound? Go for a TFT monitor, not LCD. Unless of course your usage is restricted to word processing...

If you are a gamer Wink then I suggest you stick to CRT.

chxta how about internet browsing and few occasional movies not necessarily DVD quality movies. Also do you have any idea on the price of TFTs.

Flat panels are generally good for internet browsing because on the average they render text better than CRTs, but when it comes to movies, my analogy will be this: you can enjoy The Sound of Music to the fullest on an LCD, but won't like the action sequences of The Matrix on the same monitor.

An unbiased comparison of LCDs and CRTs can be found here.

Meantime, in Nigeria prices are in the N9k to 15k range for CRTs, and N24k to 55k range for LCDs. Never seen an actual TFT on display.

um you do know that lower the refresh rate the better? A response time referes to how quickly the screen can change colours, this is measure usually from black to black or more accurately as grey to grey (change and change bacK) with a 20ms and higher screen you will see what they call ghosting on the screen where you can see the ghost of an image as it changes, not something you want.

Personally I have a 19" Samsung panel that cost me $650 AUD (N65000 - give or take) (it has a 4ms response time) , it does everything I want and watching action movies like the bourne supremecy work find with no ghosting Smiley
