Kidnapping in Rivers State
« on: November 04, 2008, 09:35 AM »

This whole kidnapping issue is getting out of hand and people are beginning to point fingers at the politicians and soldiers. There is a conspiracy some where to steal our national resources via this whole saga. How can you justify the spending of as much as 1 billion naira monthly by the rivers state government on security? This money would have been put to better use but now the politicians collect 1 billion of which perhaps only 500 million will get to the armed forces who will have it as additional income to their regular salaries and then turn around to collude with the same politicians in kidnapping helpless civilians and then pay themselves ransome from the the same money. The other day right opposite indomie gate in Choba, 2 white men who were supervising the expansion of that road were kidnapped about 2pm. To start with their mobile policemen all went on break and at the same instant the so called "militants" appeared shooting in every direction killing one villager in the process. All the taxis and buses passing that busy route had to pack and wait till it was all over. Some regular policemen where seen peeping from okocha bus stop which is not far from mission road bus stop directly opposite indomie gate. At the end of it all much, much later JTF and co started speeding down from bori camp far, far away. Was on my way to town via transport, on coming back we met police road blocks every 5 minute drive all of them looking for twenty naira.

My dear, we don't even know whom to trust these days. The so called ten ten naira policemen could as well be the militants in disguise passing information to these boys.
