I just handed in my Chelski fan pass but guess what?!?! I'm still a blue. Only this blue team has a better strike force, currently leads the German league, and most importantly, a great Nigerian player that's doing what we love him doing.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim is a German football club based in Hoffenheim, a suburb of Sinsheim, Baden-Württemberg. In 2007, the club decided to adopt the use of the short form name 1899 Hoffenheim in place of the traditional

The modern-day club was formed in 1945, when gymnastics club Turnverein Hoffenheim (founded July 1 1899) and football club Fußballverein Hoffenheim (founded 1921) merged. At the beginning of the 1990s, the club was an obscure local amateur side playing in the eighth division Baden-Württemberg A-Liga. They steadily improved and by 1996 were competing in the Verbandsliga Nordbaden (V).

Around 1990, alumnus Dietmar Hopp returned to the club of his youth, not as a player or manager, but as financial backer. Hopp was the co-founder of software firm SAP and he put some of his money into the club. His contributions generated almost immediate results: in 2000 Hoffenheim finished first in the Verbandsliga and was promoted to the fourth-division Oberliga Baden-Württemberg. Another first place finish moved the club up to the Regionalliga Süd (III) for the 2001-02 season. They finished 13th in their first season in the Regionalliga, but improved significantly the next year, earning a fifth place result.

Hoffenheim earned fifth and seventh place finishes in the next two seasons, before improving to fourth in 2005-06 to earn their best result to date. The club made its first German Cup appearance in the 2003-04 competition and performed well, advancing to the quarterfinals by eliminating 2. Bundesliga sides Eintracht Trier and Karlsruher SC and Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen before being put out themselves by another 2. Bundesliga side, VfB Lübeck.

Negotiations to merge TSG Hoffenheim, FC Astoria Walldorf, and SV Sandhausen to create FC Heidelberg 06 in 2005 were abandoned due to the resistance of the latter two clubs, and the failure to agree on whether the new side's stadium should be located in Heidelberg or Eppelheim. Team owner Hopp clearly preferred Heidelberg, but could not overcome the resistance of local firm Wild, which had already reserved the site of the planned stadium for its new production facilities.

In 2006, the club sought to improve its squad and technical staff by bringing in players with several years of Bundesliga experience, most notably Jochen Seitz and Tomislav Marić, and by signing Ralf Rangnick, former manager of Bundesliga teams SSV Ulm 1846, VfB Stuttgart, Hannover 96, and FC Schalke 04, to a five-year contract. The investment paid off in the 2006–07 season with the club's promotion to the 2. Bundesliga after finishing 2nd in Regionalliga Süd.

Remarkably, the club spent only a single season in the 2. Bundesliga, where they finished in 2nd place and received automatic promotion. The 2008–2009 season is Hoffenheim's first in the German top division.

Incredibly, eleven games into the season, Hoffenheim stood atop the Bundesliga, with 25 points, having won eight games, drawn one and lost two.

I hope you would stay with them through thick and thin even though that might be next to impossible since that is not a trait of a typical Chelsea fan

How can he be for real. . . . .the ashawo thinks its OK to change club like he changes underwear. . . . how can you leave Chelsea for Hoffenheim?. . . . . will you follow Obasi to Chelsea when we sign him. . . .
Re: It's The Hoffenheim Fans Thread, Somebody Had To Do It. by nguage(m): 1:06am On Nov 06, 2008
I really like chelsea but they played really bad yesterday, I mean Roma is 16th on the Serie A table and we couldn't even manage a draw with them.

Anyway, I can support two clubs if thats what I want and I'm genuinely amused of the Hoffe's sudden rise to the top of German football, and it's not just a one-off thing, they actually play well and a strike force of Edu + Ibisevic + Ba >>>> Kalou + Malu + Mallam Anelka.
Re: It's The Hoffenheim Fans Thread, Somebody Had To Do It. by A40(m): 1:48pm On Nov 06, 2008
I hope you become suddenly amused to if they by chance have a sudden decline to the bottom of German Football

Just a brief summary of the game today, I'm still watching the Newcastle game.

As usual, our team lacks when it comes to defending set pieces, we conceeded two goals today.

But our strikers are back on form, scoring three goals, two of them regular hoffenheim goals that involved counter attacks and quick passes between strikers. The other goal was a Nice free-kick by Ibisevic today

The Brazillan striker brought out the bitch in our defenders, those guys are as slow as Ogbeche (where in hell is that Arrow?)

I expect Vorsah to start more often, we need someone as tall as him to shield the back four and prevent balls from getting to opposing strikers.

The downside: Edu is injured, I hope it's nothing serious but he had to be taken off today. He is our best striker, (more like a traditional Nigerian winger) because he's good in passing, crossing and scoring. Brilliant on counter attacks.

UP HOFFENHEIM, UP OBASI, UP IBISEVIC.

OFFTOPIC: Owen just scored for Newcastle.

i'm just happy ogbuke is playing well. even if chelsea don't grab him, a good club will, and he can get to be the mega star he's meant to be.

Update: Hoffenheim 2 (Ibisevic, Eduardo) Arminia Bielefeld 0

The game's already 15 minutes into the second half. we've also had the wood work against us a few times.

Vorsah started today and his defensive duties are getting done, but I'd like to see him involved more, although he's not as commanding as Mascherano or Mikel, he doesnt get regular passes from his back four. Once he's able to establish himself, I see majority of our moves starting from him.

Majority of our forrays into attack currently come from the flanks and from counter attacks. The two goals scored so far in this game are from that too

Ibisevic (15 goals in 14 games)

Ogbuke is probably still recovering from the injury he sustained 2 weeks ago.

TOYOSI20:

Go Hoffenheim cool kiss, I love this Blue team as well!

Just in case you don't know, my girl supports the same team as me. Good morning baby.

update:we scored our 3rd goal just now, a penalty by Cappado who came on as a substitude for Eduardo.

I don't think the penalty was rightly deserved but I'm not a refree, who am I to reject a blessing from the God of futbol.

Game over.
Hoffenheim 3 Arminia Bielefeld 0

(I saw Obasi around other players at the end of the game, he wasn't even dressed for it, I hope his injury heals up soon).
