RAP - Rythm And Poetry.

I will give points for:
1. Originality
2. Rythm (syllables and morphemes)
e.g. It's the en|-oh| - tee| - oh |- ar |- ah - |oh
                    You |- S |  You |just  |lay  |down |slow

3. Flow and Relativity i.e. if lines go off target, they must converge at a point and bring out the intention(s) of the rapper
4. Ability to convince
5. Clarity of points
6. Intro and conclusion
7. Creativity and Rhyme scheme (dumb, numb, score, bore, mean, seen, e.t.c usually aa bb that is line one rhymes with line two, line three with line four, and so on but you can invent your style so long as you stick with it.)
8. Free styling (where your rhymes don't seem to go in, you find an alternative phrase that quite agrees with it and find a way around it, or bend it)
9. Suspense

I will not give points for:
1. Excessive comparison
2. Excessive use of names of places
3. Excessive use of names of celebrities
4. Lengthy lines that refuse to correspond after at most 8 lines
5. Excessive encoding of points
6. Chorus

The winner may, not surprisingly though, not agree with this format, and I hope you guys do your best. You are who you think you are, and you are the best whether you win or not.

no copy n paste rhymes be original, remember Nairaland has lot of people who know a lot about rap so the moment anyone copy n paste you'll be disqualified.

@ Judges, We really need to discuss, meanwhile for a start, let's analyse the lyrics of the following tracks:

1. Running. Tupac Feat. B.I.G.
2. Favor for Favour Nas Feat Scarface
3. Renegade Jay-Z feat Eminem

and rate each rapper according to our metrics, then we form our metrics for judging the contestants. NO BIAS.

@ christino,

no disrespect but a free style battle is won by, this aint a poetry competition, gotta keep it real because I battle on other forums (strictly freestyle battles )

  wittiness
   word play
     punchlines
       concept

@ judges

Like they do on battle forums, i think ya'all have to specify how many lines folks spit, so folks have the same number of lines e.g. 16 lines each and when picking a winner, u DEFINITELY have to state why you picked the folks as winner.

MY QUESTIONS

1. There will be 3 judges, so i'm assuming in a battle between Crayola and Shishi , 2 out of the 3 judges pick Crayola, Crayola wins??
2. Will there be a uniform criteria adopted by judges in picking a winner i.e. If mukina thinks Crayola won because of a
punchline, will it be logical to think christino has also picked a winner for same reason
, I think these points need to be clarified!

Good one there,

We'll come out with our metrics, I mean you can estimate how many points you have as against your opponents without much stress.
And your questions, we'll answer in a little while.
