In replly to the mail you sent to me concerning the Vmobile Wapgprs configuration of phone, i wish to wite you that i am having problem with the configuration of my phone for grps wap.
I reside in benin and i have a few quetions to as if you can be of help to me, do not hesitate to response to me. the model of my phone is Sagem MV-55 and here are what is found in its configuration and i would like you to tell me what to put in them:

(options under Preferred connection are, Gprs/Gsm/ GSm if No GPRS)

Under Gsm Parameters we have:

( The default Ip Is 000.000.000.000, thats how it is there, so how do i input the wap Ip address?)

(the option present in the mode are: Automatic/ Analog/ Digital)

In the Gprs Parameters, We have:

By the way what is the meaning of APN?
Thats all. So all i am asking is for you to tell me[font=Lucida Sans Unicode][/font] how to configure MyV-55, with the help of the information which i gave to you, that is found in my phone for configuration of wap or Gprs

This does not work any more. Visit www.vmobile-nigeria.com to get the current way of configuring your own wap and mms settings or Gprs settings by sending smsy to 184. You can get all the configuration for all the network except for Mtel at this site: www.gosmartmobile.com/data.phpFor example: We have two model of phones and vmobile clasiifield them into Phone 1 and phone 2: Phone 1 are old-fashioned phone phones like sagem myx-6, Nokia 3200, and so on. While phone 2 are Modern phones like Myv-55, sendo m570, Nokia 6600 and so on. To get Gprs settings for mms or wap send an sms with the keyword"wapgrs" to 184 if your phone is in the category 1 i.e if your phone is not a modern phone send sms to 184, but if your phone is a modern phone like mine which is Sagem Myv-55, send an sms with keyword "wapgprs2" to 184. This also implies to mms and csd. For examples: WAP GPRS- Phone category 1 for Gprs: Send sms with keyword "wapgprs" to 184 Phone category 2 for gprs: Send sms with keyword "wapgprs2" to 184 MMS GPRS- Phone category 1: send sms with keyword"mmsgprs" to 184 Phone category 2: Send sms with keyword "mmsgprs2" to 184 For CSD settings or configuration, WAPCSD phone category 1: send sms with keyword"wapcsd" to 184 phone category 2: send sms with keyword"wapcsd2" to 184 MMSCSD Phone category1: send sms with keyword "mmscsd" to 184 Phone category 2:send sms with keyword" mmscsd2" to 184 NOTE: I am correcting this for this who do not know the recent change that vmobile has implemented in sending sms to 184 for gprs or mms or wap settings. i am not mr know all. Unfortunately I have not been able to acess nairaland via my phone a Nokia. What do I need to do next.

99.2% of my posts on this forum are from my GPRS enabled phone the remaining 0.8% is when i want to upload and download pictures and softwares using my laptop. I browse most internet contents on my phone. I have a full web browser on my nokia ngage. There is also a way i browse on my laptop using my phone as the modem via bluetooth. You can also use infrared if you have it on both phone and pc. Here are the settings.
Activate infrared on both devices. Laptop's infrared is defaultly on. Align the 2 infrared ports. The pc will see the phone as a modem and will install drivers accordingly. You might need the cd that came with your phone to install modem drivers if the pc does not install automatically. Next, you need to create a dial up access. Do this... Go to control panel...network connections...Create new connection... Connect to the internet...set up my connection manually...connect using a dial up modem...check only your infrared port... Isp name= anything...phone number=*99#...user name and password are both wap... Finished. Happy browsing. P.S. *99# tells your pc to dial the gprs facility on your phone. This will work for all other networks. Even for those outside the country. Only put in the right user name and password. For mtn your user name and pass word are both web. Guys my fingers hurt from typing all this from my nokia ngage... Coolstuff4real, i have lots of softwares and games for your ngage phone. Just get an mmc of at least 128MB and let of know when you are ready... To the guy that asked for the difference between csd and gprs. Csd is like making a call to get online. So you get charged per second or per minute unlike gprs where you are only charged per kilobyte of your download or upload. I have been using vmobile gprs for 11 months now. lol.

Is the setting sent by Vmobile same for all phone? because i was surprise i read the sent msg which said i should use 1 as the default pin. Later i recieved another on... but my phone couldnt read it (n 21 i NEC) .
i have set up the whole connection settings in the internet setup. Including the IP username password..AP but my phone keep asking me to choose CSD profile after choosing the profile self.
I don't knw why... can anyone help?

I have been using vmobile gprs for 11 months now.  . How come you've been using Vmobile gprs for 11 months, is there something I don't know here? Have you been able to use your Vmobile as gprs modem, I know it's possible with MTN but can you do it on Vmobile? |

Sure you can use the vmobile as gprs modem but i found out resently that it only keeps on sending data but doesnt recieve data apart from the first 200-299bytes from initialization point and when you try pinging another PC, it will tell you that your request was timed out so that means you are connected but you can't browse. Shameful thing.  Try checking an hotmail account on your vmobile and let me know if you can do it. (thats if you have a hotmail account) I got the GPRS settings since last year, that how i had been on for 11 months. I got an insider  |
