By the time this thread is locked, it would have gathered more posts than the one about Ngozi's resignation

So, I have this conversation with Nigerians in Nigeria (NIN). It goes along the lines of me saying that Nigeria has a long way to go in terms of development. The response I usually get back is of the nature "We are at least trying now. Y do you and others abroad always say negative things about your motherland?". In other words, they make me look and feel like a traitor.
Is there anything wrong with me pointing out that having electricity for, if at all, 6 hours a day is absolutely bad, as opposed to saying, "we are trying". In essence, I ask - when will Nigeria stop "trying". I don tire o! Me pointing out the negative doesn't make me any less Nigerian. As I tell the NINs, I am probably more Nigerian than they are. I just have been blessed with the opportunity to see things from both sides of the pond.
It is either we have 24 hour power supply, for example, or not. Let's stop this "we are trying" crap, because we have been "trying" since at least I got there for the first time in 1980 and we have been "trying" ever since.
Again, am I smoking the wrong kind of crack?
