We are not liverpool (who choked tonight ) Why is winning the league like a proverbial camel - needle? You better go and battle Hoffenheim before coming to spill bollocks here. We are only 6 points behind the top, from 10 points behind a few games back and being written off. We were in the finals just 2 years ago, so unless you're praying for premature death DK, recant immediately. Yes we were playing footie from another planet a few years ago, but seasons ebb and fade, and rise again. In our fallow period we've remained competitive and secured our future with wise investments. I am still VERY confident we will win a trophy this season. who is battling Villa? They are ahead of us yes, but there is no battle - they will drop in due time. Even Hull was third on the table a few months back, so kini big deal? The fact that we are not as successful as we were a few years ago doesn't negate the fact that this is the BEST football club on the planet. No doubt about it. Gunner 1965

6 points behind the top(who have a GAME IN HAND). If they win that, it's NINE POINTS. I'm sure liverpool thought the same about their game in hand, till Everton and Cahill put an end to that. I'm not concerned about winning the league this term, we aren't ready and definitely don't deserve it. Our focus is to win a cup and go as high as possible. Third would not be unpleasant, but second would be my preferred. Gunner 1965

It is not rocket science that the last one would produce another THREE.

I still insist u desist from your pre-ejaculation!A bird in the hand is the ONLY true catch Put your life on it as a bet that United would be beaten bluish blackish by Fulham at OT!!! We came back from Japan to be 7 points behind Liverpool. Tonight, we are on top of em with a GAME in hand. We are yet to drop a single point since we came back from Japan. Never mind conceding a goal.

HNIC,you voiced my thoughts Hmmmmm, the extent to which sane people will go to avoid running with the scummie pack of any shade, Imagine turning down an offer to earn $714,000.00 per week just because the offer came from a scummie club (the blue half nonetheless)

The scousers dropping points is good for Arsenal - this way, we remain six points off the top. Ivan Gazidis goes to Russia today for final negotiations on Arshavin. I hope they get the deal for ol' owl face sorted out soonest. We still have 10 days before Everton and he could likely make his debut then. If it were a previous season, I would say it's too early. But Nasri started for us on the first game of the season, so IF Owlshavin comes, he could start immediately. That said, now that Citeh have lost in the chase for Kaka, I hope they don't stick their blue-tinted scummie noses into our deal with Arshavin. With the mess over there (Robinho going AWOL from camp) I don't think any right thinking footballer (world class that is) would be interested in moving there. Thomas Rosicky says he still thinks he can play for us this season, I really hope he can. We miss his ability to score goals late in games to give us that extra cushion. Get well soon Rozzi!! Again I must say it is shocking that we are only 6 points behind the leaders given the fact that we've lost 5 games already. It just goes to show you - if we kept our heads against Hull at home, and won the Spurs game, we'd be ONE point behind the leaders right now. Anyways, no one ever said supporting Arsenal was easy. I am still confident we will win a cup this season. Gunner 1965

Even our ladies are still at the top cheksli chics got nothing on them ARSENAL 4 CHELSEA 1
Chelsea Ladies' fixture against Arsenal on Sunday mirrored the previous outing between the two sides, despite the Blues' sturdy performance.
The last time these two teams faced one another back in December, it was Arsenal who secured a 4-0 victory, but, the hosts' final score was the only similarity between the two games, and this time the Blues had plenty of opportunities to score before the Gunners took the lead.
The Ladies' last game against this side was after nearly a month out of competitive action, but this weekend saw a full strength, match-fit Chelsea team line-up against the Gunners.
The fast-tempo game began with Chelsea and Arsenal equal. Both teams had chances inside the first 20 minutes, but it was Arsenal who built on their possession first.
It took 27 minutes for Kelly Smith to score her 26th goal of the season, the Arsenal striker broke the deadlock after breaking into the box and calmly slotting past Siobhan Chamberlain.
With half-an-hour played, Karen Carney doubled her team's lead, helping the Gunners to three points and a nine-point gap at the top of the table.
A further three goals arrived in the second half, with Chamberlain turning the ball into her own net for Arsenal's third only seven minutes in.
Dunia Susi then pulled one back for the Blues with an adventurous run and clinical finish just past the hour mark, but with only six minutes left to play, right-back Alex Scott wrapped up the win for Arsenal against a diligent Chelsea team.
'The final result was not truly representative of the game that unfolded,' said assistant coach Lorrie Fair.
'We had four minutes in the first half where they scored two goals, aside from those four minutes I felt we had more chances to score in the first half.
'The difference was their finishing, Arsenal were clinical,' added Fair. http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LadiesNews/0,,10268~1525229,00.html

For the poor arsenal fans (like A-40) looking for transfer news, I have a little something for you. I don't make a habit of quoting goal.com, but I do have reason to believe this particular story has an element of truth. Arsenal Set For Mate Toth CaptureArsenal are set to beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Hungarian defender Mate Toth as the race for the 18-year-old hots up between the North London rivals.
The Hungarian youngster has been training with the Arsenal youth squad, as well as participating in a few first team sessions, and has seemed to have made an impression on Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
The 18-year-old starlet has already played for Kerulet, Ferencvaros, Ujpest and Empoli in his short career and looks set to complete a move to the Emirates for a fee of around £250,000.
The Gunners are in pole position to sign the player after it was thought their North London rivals Tottenham were interested in acquiring the 18-year-old's services.
During his time on trial in North London with Arsenal, his agent Sandor Varga spoke to the Hungarian press and said that there was a distinct possibility that Toth could move to the Premier League side.
Speaking to Kisafold, Varga said, "Of course, it's not easy to get a contract in the professional contract but the young player is ahead of an enormous possibility."
Arsenal are also on the trail of Russian star Andrei Arshavin, and are set to tie up a £15 million deal for the 27-year-old in the few days.LINKGiven the calibre of talent to emerge from Eastern Europe recently - Vidic, Cech, Skrtel and now Tosic and the other kid, buying a Hungarian would not be a bad deal. That said, Nordveit was bought last season and we haven't heard much about him since - he didn't even feature in the CC run. Another young player joining the fold, as long as he's above 6' 2'' I'm all for it.

Another youngster? uhmmmmmmm, i am skeptical!
I hope his integration and development will be rapid
On Harvard Nordtveit-------------
He joined 2 seasons ago and having captained the reserves for pretty much of last season till date, i expected him to have broken into the first team!
The reserves is pretty much awash of talents to be honest
AW has to prove buying more youngsters will see the promotion of exceptional ones to the first team!!!
We seem to be running our reserve sides with a view to them going out to help Championship and lower league clubs in crisis!!

Is buying a youngster who'll be going straight to the Reserve team wise when the first team has got obvious gaps? What's the point looking to the future when the now has got issues. . .unless hez given up already wrt this season. . . Sure AW's a good coach, but one's got to wonder about this. . . Ain't his fault sha, guess lil boys are all he knows how to bargain for

MrCrackles Who lent you money to buy champagne? I'm saying the truth na. . .that buy,if it's true, doesn't make sense at all. You guys already have a good amount of firepower in your Reserve team. . .AW should get what his first team really needs and quit running after kids.

Criz Shut up dia I rinse my mouth daily with expensive brands of Champers, becoz m loaded! Anyways i do agree our Reserves is bursting with talents and prolly dont need more youngsters who wont get into the first team immediately! Me thinks we need to shore up on the experience side of things to steady our boat and kids wont do dat for us I cant get my head round AW's way of thinking This youngsters will keep up the trend of providing lower league teams in crisis, a way our of thier predicament But breaking into the Arsenal first team?

He he wasn't 'running after what the first team needs' why would Ivan The Terrible leave his posh London house and travel to Moscow to hammer out a deal for Arshavin? Wenger will keep buying youngsters - removing the ones that don't make it and promoting the best of the crop. Even the reserves need in house competition. But maybe you're right Criz, Wenger sucks at buying players over 30 - Imagine the load of crap that is Silvestre? There are so many gooners happy that JD and KT are our CB's at the moment, not rejects from Chelski or Scum central. Wobbling through the rest of the season? We were 10 points behind the leaders three weeks, now we are 6 points behind. 8 games unbeaten with a three game winning streak. Three of our best players are coming back in the next couple of weeks. For the first time in a long time, the second half of the season will be MUCH better than the first half for Arsenal. Y'all better watch out. Gunner 1965

@ Criz Note I didn't say we would win the league. It would help if scummies read in between the lines and didn't jump the gun. Not that I expect more from a bunch with one minute man 4Play in their ranks. I haven't changed my initial assessment that we won't win the league as you can in my posts just yesterday. I have clearly said my best case scenario at this moment would be 2nd or 3rd. Anything beyond that is a miracle of epic proportions and a cataclysmic meltdown by the other top 4 clubs - highly improbable. Very ''optimistic'' from someone who long ago admitted the only thing Arsenal stand a chance of winning this season is the FA Cup. . .
PS - I never said the 'only' chance, I said the 'best' chance. Only the league is out of reach (and the CC of course) - knock out competitions? We have as good a chance as anyone. Let's see where we are at the end of January. . . .another assessment can be made then. Gunner 1965

@ Criz Note I didn't say we would win the league. Where exactly did I say you said that? All I said was you sounded very ''optimistic'' for someone who had given up a long time ago. Gaynners should try properly digesting sentences before concluding Devils don't know what they're talking about PS - I never said the 'only' chance, I said the 'best' chance. Only the league is out of reach (and the CC of course) - knock out competitions? We have as good a chance as anyone. Dude, wake up. . .right now your 'best' chance IS your only reasonable chance. You just don't want to accept it. It's good to be optimistic, but if you really believe your present side can win the UCL(with your team issues still unfixed) then I must finally accept that gaynners are more desperate than I thought
