@MP007 yeah u are rite, the city is damn dirty but still preferable to where ever u are from. (just kiddin). Maybe its because of the population and high level of illeteracy. u havent seen anything yet, there are some dirtier places in "inner" ibadan but we are trying to get that controlled. @lyricalgen very long time ago. what year did ur bro graduate?

Ibadan is an old city, has been the capital of the old western region since Awolowo days. Actually its only roofs in some particular places that are brown not all roofs in Ibadan. The brown roofs u see on TV represents the core ghetto area of ibadan. Very funny view cus all u see is just brown. @omogenaija i will call u a fine gurl that needs to visit home

Let me give you brief history about Ibadan: Ibadan, surrounded by seven hills, is the largest city in Nigeria and the whole of Africa (larger than both Lagos and Cairo in geographical size). It came into existence when bands of Yorùbá renegades following the collapse of the Yorùbá Ọyọ Empire, began settling in the area towards the end of the 18th century; attracted by its strategic location between the forests and the plains. Its pre-colonial history centered on militarism, imperialism and violence. The military sanctuary expanded even further when refugees began arriving in large numbers from northern Ọyọ following raids by Fulani warriors. Ibadan grew into an impressive and sprawling urban center so much that by the end of 1829, Ibadan dominated the Yorùbá region militarily, politically and economically. The area became a British Protectorate in 1893 and by then the population had swelled to 120,000. The British developed the new colony to facilitate their commercial activities in the area, and Ibadan shortly grew into the major trading center that it is today.
