I do not blame the Igbo from wanting to leave. The oil in the southeat and land belong to them.

No, actually most of the oil comes from the Niger Delta. Ijaws, Itsekiri etc aren't Igbos!!

Er, not totally. There are other ethnic groups in the Niger-Delta which have oil trapped in their land. Apart from the Ijaw & Itsekiri like dblock mentioned, parts of Edo as well as the Ogoni, Efik, Ibibio, Andoni, Anang etc. are also blessed with oil.

Read "You must set forth at Dawn'" by Wole Soyinka too. There is some stuff about the civil war in it.

Why do you listen to Laudate, all she's out to do is tarnish the Igbo image, she's been warned a long time ago but she keeps doing it.

Hehehehe. Wink . . there is a name for the disease that afflicts you, Donzman. It is called Paranoia. Kindly do yourself a favour, and see a shrink!  Cool After that, you can come back and tell us how all Laudate is out to do, is tarnish the Igbo image. Spell it out, in chapter and verse. Use concise words, where applicable. Mumu!!

the reason Biafra failed and Igbos lost the war was because people from the Delta wanted no part of it. They do not consider themselves Igbo. How about the Igbos form their own state without Delta. Oh wait, its because delta has oil.

I do not believe in Nigeria as a country and I think it is only a matter of time it collapses. There are many countries in the world with little to no oil that are world powers. But let the Delta form its own region and the igbos form theirs. If people from the Delta want no part of Biafra you cannot force them to do so. Last time Igbos tried they lost the war.

The Niger-Delta is not a people, it is a region with people from different ethnic groups, Igbos included. Get your mind straight!

the people of the east are Igbos. THose of the Delta are not. I never said the Niger Delta are people, learn to read, i said PEOPLE OF THE NIGER DELTA. That is completely different from Niger-Delta are a people. Ofcourse the Delta has many tribes/ethnicities, my point is they are not Igbo. And that is why the Igbos lost the Biafra war because the different people of the Delta region wanted no part of it

THAT IS FALSE.

Delta, and Rivers state has sigificant number of igbo spoeakig people. Some of them acknowlege their igbo ancestory some do not.

For you to write that Biafra failed because of ethnic origin is not entirely true. Try and check  for facts before you post.

Cheers.

@Shango

You're terribly confused. Nobody said everyone in the ND is Igbo, I'm saying that there are Igbos in the ND, end of story!

there are Igbos in lagos. What is your point Donzman? We are talking about the identity of a region and its long time habitants. There are Igbos in the North as well. Does it mean the North should be included in Biafra?
And Planner most people of the Delta do not consider themselves Igbo. You proponents of Biafra might to further your agenda but the people themselves do not. If you knew anything about the Biafra war you would know that is why the Igbos failed to secede.

What is wrong with this Shango character?. . .There are NATIVE Igbos in the Delta who are long time inhabitants of the region i.e. they predate colonialism and whatever. There are no native Igbos in Lagos or the North. Educate yourself about Nigeria before you speak, end of story.

That is correct, but some do.  People of igbo origin is spread the length and breath of south  south region. Infact there are some  communities that there existence pre-dates the amalgamation of these country. At least  i have met some whose great great grand fathers have roots in rivers or delta states but still feels that Arochukwu in Abia state is there spiritual home. Aside from these there are several others who are now coming to terms with their origin.

Shango,

Biafra did not fail beause of these. Try and read books  unbiased books written on the Nigerian civil war. Anyway Biafra failed to succed as we all know. But the people of the south south and south east are complaining of negelct and others-which may necesitate another war if we are not careful.
