livvvvy, hope you don't mind my chipping in here:

the founder of the legion of mary is not Saint Louis Marie Grignion de Montforte but Frank Duff. though i understand why it can be thought
so. the handbook of the legion is based on the marian spirituality taught by St. Louis de Montforte.

i love St Louis de Montforte too.

Thanks Carlosein for the correction. I got them both confused. Well I love Louis Marie de Montforte - he did something special to a Leprosy man, he picked the man up in the cold, carried him on his shoulder, washed him, fed him and made him warm. Hope i dont get this story wrongly ascribed to this saint

I was a Legionary for 3 months but I have forgotten the names of the saints.
I still remember Ss peter and Paul, Pray for us,
Saint Louis Maria de mantfort - pray for us
All you Saints of God in heaven or whatever - pray for us.

I'm finished.  There is still hope.
I have not been to church for some years now.
But I believe in God and I know there is heaven.
May God have mercy on me.

We fly to your patronage, O holy Mother of God; despise not our prayers in our necessities, but ever deliver us from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

v. Mary Immaculate, Mediatrix of all Graces
or Invocation appropriate to Praesidium)
R. Pray for us.
v. St. Michael and St. Gabriel
R. Pray for us.
v. All you heavenly Powers, Mary's Legion of Angels
R. Pray for us.
v. St. John the Baptist
R. Pray for us.
v. Saints Peter and Paul
R. Pray for us.

Confer, O Lord, on us, who serve beneath the standard of Mary, that fullness of faith in You and trust in her, to which it is given to conquer the world. Grant us a lively faith, animated by charity, which will enable us to perform all our actions from the motive of pure love of You, and ever to see You and serve You in our neighbor; a faith, firm and immovable as a rock, through which we shall rest tranquil and steadfast amid the crosses, toils and disappointments of life; a courageous faith which will inspire us to undertake and carry out without hesitation great things for your glory and for the salvation of souls; a faith which will be our Legion's Pillar of Fire - to lead us forth united - to kindle everywhere the fires of divine love - to enlighten those who are in darkness and in the shadow of death - to inflame those who are lukewarm - to bring back life to those who are dead in sin; and which will guide our own feet in the way of peace; so that - the battle of life over - our Legion may reassemble, without the loss of any one, in the kingdom of Your love and glory. Amen.

May the souls of our departed legionaries and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

plc group, this is the prayer you are trying to recollect, the concluding prayer of the legion. pray it and remember the portion in bold.

our Lady does not cast anyone away, therefore do not despair, you may be a St. Augustine yet Wink

plc group, you can get a good book of the saints, if possible saint augustine's confessions.

read it and i am sure it will go a long way in bringing you back.

you can also try and make mass this sunday and try your heart on confession.
in this season of advent when we expect the coming of our Lord, he would love to have you back in his church once again.

May Our Mother of perpetual help be your strenght, Amen.

you have friends here, feel at home Smiley

@carlosein

you have just reminded me the prayer.
They used to share new members red leaflets
that contain the prayers. i think
it was thesera?  It was designed with that rod with two wings
they always place on the table.  At the middle of the meeting
they stand for the catena.  I can remember it all.  Over 15 years now.

Why do u say the Jesuits need a reformation?

Because the austerity seems to be vanishing. Some are caught up in their "knowledge" that they forget God.
Bring austerity back. Let's not take away the mysticism.

Mine is St. Joseph for being the father of our saviour.

the guardian of the mystical body of Christ - the Church. He guards us well as he guarded the physical body of Christ while he walked the earth. I love him. We don't give him enough credit though, he is the perfect example of a father on earth.

Thank You Lord for the lives of all these, catholics professing their faith in nairaland. My petron saint is first and fore most ,The Blessed Virgin mother, mother of sinners, the seat of wisdom, help of the afflicted, my other patron saint is St. Anthony of Padua, known for recovering missing items(OH GOD,IT REALLY WORKS). Oh I can't wait for the canonization of Blessed Mother Theressa, known for her exceptional love for the poor and the needy and of course Blessed Pope Johnpaul the 2nd.I can testify to their holy lives on earth.

Isn't this the truth. My goodness, I have lost too many things and have found them thanks to him.

both. I do know some men who don't want to enter that vocation because they just don't see the austerity with them. Maybe it's here in America, things are different in America, everything is different in America. Our society is in shambles, pray for us.

lady, society is in shambles everywhere. it's just on a different level from place to place.

here is something for us all:

Matthew 5
The Beatitudes
1Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2and he began to teach them saying:
3"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
 4Blessed are those who mourn,
      for they will be comforted.
 5Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
      for they will be filled.
 7Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart,
      for they will see God.
 9Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

i find it apt in this situation.
