Where Can I Get Da Vinci Code In Nigeria Or Which Company Can Order It For Me
« on: August 11, 2006, 10:03 PM »

I have searched Yaba, The Palms, Manna Books, CMS bookstore for Da Vinci Code (the book) thats a worldwide bestseller and none of them seem to have it. Where in Nigeria can I get this or who has it here and is willing to sell it to me or who knows where I can order it and have it delivered to Nigeria in the shortest possible time. I don't mind any amount it costs as long as it's reasonable and compares with what obtains on internet bookstores. Please help OOOOOOOOO

Why would you want to read a book that blasphemes the Divinity of Jesus Christ?

It depends on what you call crap, Da Vinci Code is not crap, it's a masterpiece whose success is hinged on sensitive fallacies. You can as well call all Sidney Sheldon's and all novels crap because its based on fallacies too

I don't call it crap because its not well written. I call it crap because its playing around with issues which are very sensitive. I think its irresponsible to do that. Like I just said in another forum noone will say such things about Mohammed. If you can write a good novel why write about things you know will cause controversy

It has made him rich and popular. He lives in a country that supports freedom of speech so don't crucify him. i don't believe whats written in the book and I know it's capable of destroying a young believer's faith but if Christians knew the history of the church, if they knew what the bible stood for, if our pastors stop teaching about propsrity and focus on developin their flock on God's word, no one should be scared about the contents of Da Vinci Code, A wonderful fiction

Because controversy is stimulating and fun, without it most people would be bored.  Sorry to cut in guys but mennnnnn its not crap, besides Dan Brown did put at the introductory page that it was fiction.  For those not secure in their beliefs, that's where they start having problem.  Its entertainment, sure it deals alot with religion, but if you have faith you can bypass all that and simply enjoy the book as a thrilling suspense novel.

Okay. I agree its well written and all that but i still think its too sensitive a topic. there are certain things that are better left untouched. We will never know what the consequences will be. It was freedom of speech that led to the publishing of the cartoons about Mohammed and that in turn led to loss of lives in Nigeria. Those journalists in Denmark where just stating their views but men, there are guys out there that don't play with these stuff.
Also not everyone who is not firm in his faith is to blame. There is so much going down now that one who does not have a clear orientation can be easily led into believing such stuff. There are many New Age guys around now and for them The Da Vinci Code is not just fiction,

Ok this is how i see it, most people don't get it but anyhow, you said many don't have a clear orientation and thus can easily be led astray.  What led one to that belief? Even if you don't have a clear orientation, the reason one believes is because of faith - which by my understanding is believing even without seeing.  You see i cannot understand why one would blindly follow something without having some sort of faith in it.  You have faith enough to believe in wonders yet you can easily be swayed? Then no no, you cannot call yourself a true follower if you can easily be diswayed. If one cannot bypass the whole religion thing in the book, then don't read it, but trust that some of us are above manipulations, insinuations and fabrications.  My 2 cents, it may not be agreeable to most but heck i always say to each his own.

I feel you iice. But something else came to mind. What if the person does not yet have faith? if he is still looking for something to believe in and he is not as convinced as you are then such a book could do a lot of harm. Or am I mistaken?

Yeah it can do him a lot of harm. Christians have the same access to the bookstands as Dan Brown has. christians can make blockbusters that would give a clear message of Christ like the Passion of Christ. It is who succeeds in convincing whom that wins

True, that can do him alot of harmI think most people need to believe in something, at the same time some people do exists without belief in any religion.  Anyhow, stay away if you cannot handle it Grin
