Ribadu, the head of EFCC, is a very brave man indeed, but he will need to beef up his security detail now and for the rest of his life, since by arresting the son of the Evil Genius, Ribadu has whacked a nest of African killer bees with a stick, and is now a marked man.

Retired General Babangida will make sure that Ribadu is silenced either now or later in revenge for Ribadu's whistle blowing against the Evil Genius' crown prince, Mohammed.

These are interesting times indeed. That IBB is a confirmed never-do-well is no news. But that he has supporters (many, and across the country) who wants him to come back and rule after stepping aside is mind boggling! Who are these supporters? what's their stake in IBB?

I will not join the ranks of those waiting for time to tell on these people. We need to flush all these rotten eggs out of our system. Our children yet unborn will not forgive us for selling our conscience. They will exhume our bodies long after we are gone to ''torment'' us if we do not deal with these crop of people who want to see to it that we are consumed in our lands.

Looking closely at all these things, we see Nigeria being ruled by a clique of blood thirsty men and women. Instead of investing in human capital development, and empowering people, they prefer stashing away billions for their own selfish ends. Little wonder why Nigeria was worst hit in every sphere during the IBB years in office.

Now, the Niger Delta, where these wealth comes from remains in shackles and is in dire needs of attention. The other day, OBJ promised heaven on earth for the people in the region, supposedly to better their lot. But up unitil this time, work on the East-West road, which contract has been awarded for dualisation has not commenced. I am tired of repeating thesame thing over and over again!

This surely has been an interesting topic. I'm only sad  Cry Cry Cry that the prediction that "government magic" will get the case swept under the carpet was fullfilled in less than 48hours after the story started Cry Cry Cry. Special thanks to all those that gave vital information on this thread.
Let's put our trust in God. One day, we will be rescued from these self-imposed task masters, who have been stealing the wealth of our nation. Amen.

I share your pain,  It's trully a sad tale. Just  seeing the number of supporters of the likes of IBB and Atiku, leaves much to be contemplated. We are truely a manipulated people. The longer we allow these people to continue their dominance over us, the longer we remain in pernury.

That some of these crooks are so bold as to flaunt their wealth with inpunity and disregard in the midst of so much suffering very sad, and that many, actively or passively support this, is an indication of where we are as a people.  We have become prisoners, held hostage by these greedy, manipulative and consciencesless rogues.

Ribadu is an incredibly brave and remarkable man. Yes we have always known the major league crooks in our midst, but there may have been some reluctantance to go after men as powerful as IBB. The reason for this is clear. Had they confronted IBB say 3 years ago, OBJ would have been summarily impeached.

Now OBJ know's he's on his last throughs and has entered 'execution phase'. Na thief sabi thief. The benefits of Ribadu's work is 2-fold. One, I hope it ends the political ambitions of these rogues thereby sparing us many more years of their self gratification. Two, it'll be the catalyst required to clean our corrupt polity as the momemtum gathered will be hard to stop.

@Thread,

Ordinarily, I should say I’m disappointed at the outcome. However, that would imply that I expected more from Nigeria. This is simply the manifestation of a much greater evil. It is the fruit from a country which continuously sets itself low standards which it continually fails to meet.

@Ono,

Brother, of all the posts on this thread, yours touched me the most. I feel your deep sense of pain and I return it with a renewed sense of outrage. When one studies the ‘randomness’ of Nigerian politics, one cannot help but notice the patterns that have emerged. However, remember that “it is not those who inflict the most but those that endure the most that shall prevail" (Terence MacSwiney). You cannot, at this time, become weary of saying these things which all know but few readily acknowledge. I leave you with the enduring words of Thomas J. Williams:

“Carry on, no matter what odds are against you.
Carry on, no matter what the enemy call you.
Carry on, no matter what torments are inflicted on you.
The road to freedom is paved with suffering, hardship and torture.
Carry on, my gallant comrades, until that certain day”

Thinking about it, since they can't pin IBB with any money laundry, is it possible that this guy is so smart and he had other people do his dirty work, no money in his account, they all have the money in their account and are always out to defend him. we shall see.

Babangidas passport seized - Movement restricted, as EFCC continues investigation, Woman arrested
By Yusuf Alli, Dotun Oladipo and Francis Falola
Published: Monday, 14 Aug 2006
Despite his release on bail, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has seized the passport of Mr. Mohammed Babangida, the son of a former military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida.

File
Gen. Ibrahim Babangida

The commission also restricted the movement of the embattled former military presidents son.

The junior Babangida was arrested on Friday by the operatives of the EFCC at a polo ground in Abuja.

Although the commission has not issued any official statement, his arrest was linked to his alleged ownership of 24 per cent of the shares in Globacom Limited, Nigerias telecommunications second national operator.

Globacom has already denied that Babangida owns any shares in the company.

It was also alleged that the EFCC might look into Mohammeds investments in some banks and construction companies.

The searchlight on Mohammed followed allegations that he had probably served as a front for his father who was the head of state from August 27, 1985 to August 26, 1993.

A 1994 report by a panel headed by the late economist, Dr. Pius Okigbo, on the Central Bank of Nigeria, among other things, accused Babangidas regime of squandering an estimated $12.4bn earned from oil sales during the Gulf War I.

Upon Mohammeds arrest, some associates of his father, led by a former National Security Adviser, Gen. Aliyu Gusau, prevailed upon the EFCC and put up bail for him.

A source in the EFCC, however, said two conditions were attached to the bail.

He said, We asked Mohammed to submit his passport to our commission and restricted his movement pending the conclusion of our investigations.”

The source added that Mohammed would report routinely to the commission as may be necessary.

As at press time, the details of the EFCCs interaction with Mohammed were unknown.

But at about 5.20pm on Sunday, Mohammed returned to his parents Hilltop Mansion in Minna, Niger State.

Clad in a blue kaftan, with a cap to match, Mohammed had closed doors meeting with his parents, other siblings and three retired military leaders.

The retired leaders were a former Head of State, Gen. Abubakar Abdulsalami; Gen. Mohammed Wushishi; and Gen. Halilu Akilu.

It was learnt that Gusau had earlier on Sunday met with Gen. Babangida.

At the end of the private session, neither Babangida nor any of his children was willing to speak with the press.

While the children escorted the three retired military leaders to their vehicles, Gen. Babangida, wearing a brown Babanrida, said he had no comment.

A relation, however, said in confidence that it was wrong of the EFCC to be interrogating Mohammed on the activities of his father.

The commission should be bold enough to invite his father. The arrest is part of a bogus attempt to implicate Gen. Babangida.”

Another source at the mansion gave account of how Mohammed became a guest of the EFCC.

He said, There was a telephone invitation from the EFCC. He did not inform his security detail when he was going to the commission.

Mohammed thought that the EFCCs invitation would not last more than 30 minutes. But when he was detained, he contacted Akilu who later informed Gusau.

With the intervention of Gusau and other friends of the family, Mohammed was released by the EFCC at about 12.05am on Sunday.”

Meanwhile, the EFCC has arrested a lady simply identified as Nancy with $1.5million at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.

The lady, said to be an in-law of one of the governors in the South-South, was arrested on Thursday while attempting to leave for the United Kingdom.

It was gathered on Sunday that as soon as she was arrested, she was moved to the Lagos office of the EFCC.

According to a source, she was, however, released following the intervention of the governor.

But on being told of the arrest and release, the Chairman of the EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, reportedly ordered Nancys re-arrest and detention.

As at Sunday night, the suspect was still being held by the EFCC.

It was learnt that the EFCC would on Tuesday issued a statement on the issue.

Efforts to reach the spokesman of the EFCC, Mr. Osita Nwajah, on the issue did not succeed, as calls to his cell phone did not go through before press time on Sunday.

If it's right to arrest IBB's son then it's right to also arrest muyiwa and gbenga obasanjo, but Mr.EFCC will never touch his boss's children; that it totally unacceptable and against EFCC rules.

It is simple, personally I do not have any respect for EFCC anymore, I used to, but not anymore. To me they are more or less a group of police dogs. They sit when they are told, they eat when they're told, and they sleep when they're told.  Apart from their successful 411 project, they have never done anything on their own. They have been used as a tool to entertain OBJ's vindictiveness and childish behavior.

Basically they're bunch of jokes who do not have a standardized protocol.  Their current or latest action is characterized by the domination of one competitor over another,  And it is sad; as much as one wants to give then credit, one also has to pause and read between the lines.

They now come out everyday to re-assure Nigerians or restore confidence in Nigerians that they are doing the right thing; something they never had to do in the past.  As oyinbo people say "action is louder than words". May be it is time for EFCC to start doing what is right instead of doing the right thing.

EFCC needs to structure their strategy and never allow political or popolitician'sgenda to affect their objectives in any way.

I'm pretty sure this group of jokes will be dismantled in the next 8 to 10 months, And I hope the new or replacement group is learning from their obvious mistakes.

I truly do not see the different between Nigerian police and EFCC agents, they are all from the same rusty metal, I say dissolve this group and develop a new one who is in-touch with reality and understands the concept of accomplishing goals without being one sided.

OBJ BASHERS, this one is for you, please check your facts before you call Muyiwa

http://www.odili.net/news/source/2005/sep/11/34.html

THE family of the First Lady, Chief Stella Obasanjo, at the weekend rose in defence of Olumuyiwa Obasanjo, who was reported to have bought a house worth N78 million in Brooklyn, New York.

 advertisement

John Abebe, Stella's elder brother, said Olumuyiwa's transaction became public news as a way to get at President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Abebe said the property in question is a block of flats which was acquired by the younger Obasanjo early this year at a sum of £250,000 through a loan obtained from a US bank, preparatory to his wedding.

"This is a boy who has three degrees and works in a law firm, who is struggling just like any other child," Abebe said. "The money he used to buy the house has nothing to do with government money. It is a loan and the record is there for everybody to see."

Abebe said Olumuyiwa was granted the loan based on his earning, which is about $220, 500 dollars per year. "This is what is obtained in the western world," he said. "Banks can grant you loan five times the amount you earn to enable you buy a house. Many people are doing it. We did it in our days, so I don't see anything strange with what Olumuyiwa has done.

"This is a boy who has been living in United States for the past 13 years. He often comes to Nigeria. He is not involved in any business deal."

Abebe faulted allegations that Olumuyiwa Obasanjo was one of those importing fuel into the country. "That is absolutely untrue," he said. "You can check your records at the NNPC or any agency of the Federal Government."

He, however, said he was the one involved in oil business which he said dated back to years before Obasanjo came to power.

Abebe stated that though another son of the President, Olugbenga Obasanjo, recently said the house was owned by Olumuyiwa, there was no crack in the first family of Nigeria. Olugbenga was initially fingered as the owner of the house.

"I know nothing about the house. It is not my house. I am not the Olu mentioned in the story. I am Olugbenga and the person mentioned is Olumuyiwa, Stella's son," Olugbenga Obasanjo said.

I cannot help but notice that you have an uncanny knack for defending King Kong’s every twist and turn. While you are entitled to your opinions on all issues related to this criminal and destroyer of communities, I daresay that your opinions bear no reflection of the true state of affairs. If he must start fighting corruption from ‘one place’ as you put it, why is his acquisition of Otta Farms (from which he makes about 34 million Naira a day – while Nigerians starve!) or his acquisition of major shares in Transcorp (200 million – fully paid for!) not as good a place as any to start?

Nutter where on earth did you arrive at a figure of 34 million naira PER DAY as being the income at Obasanjo Farms ?  Are you SERIOUSLY claiming that Obasanjo Farms clears a quarter million US dollars  DAILY ?  The only way I could imagine that sort of income accruing to any farm on a daily basis would be if the produce derived there was cocaine or high grade Dutch marijuana.

Are you claiming that Nigeria's president is a cocaine cowboy or pot farmer ?  Obasanjo gets accused of a lot of things but this one truly takes the cake.  So go ahead and give us the low-down Nutter, enquiring minds want to know.  How did you determine the daily income of Obasanjo farms ?   Your balance sheet would only make sense if you calculate Obasanjo Farms' income in Iraqi dinars, a currency which trades at a zillion to the dollar while losing value at an inflationary rate that would re-float the Titanic.

All I can say is that they should use whatever is at their disposal (EFCC, ICPC, DOGS, TOUTS, AGBEROS, MURDERERS) to eliminate themselves. Somehow, a stage will be reached where we can breathe fresh air and come under human beings as our leaders.

I would have loved a situation where they can all be caged (all of them including IBB, ATIKU, OBJ, BUHARI etc etc) and allowed to engage in a free for all fight - fight to finish, as in fight to death - (Gladiators). Then they should call on me to shoot the last man standing among them. Then we can have some peace, or what do you think folks?

He stole the farm from the Nigerian people under the pretext of OFN so what do you mean when you say he got the farm before he became President? I have also noticed how you have quickly moved from talking about King King to talking about IBB. I am not fooled.

"The statement credited to the President of Nigeria Aremu Olusegun Obasanjo through one of the news media that the president’s farm makes an average of $250,000 a day calls for celebration and a thorough review. At the exchange rate of 138 Naira to a dollar the General must be making over 34.5 million Naira per day and with an average of five working days the farming is grossing 172.5million Naira a week, with 50 weeks of work excluding 2 weeks to clean up and maintain the farm the Ota farm must be grossing averagely 8.3 billion Naira in a year. Nutter your assertion that Obasanjo Farms rakes in a quarter million dollars a day is based on a link to an article written by some guy in Texas who in turn CLAIMS that Obsanjo himself boasted of that amount of income from his farm.

I still maintain that such a massive daily profit would only be feasible if Obasanjo Farms was located up in the Peruvian Andes mountain foothills where the primary cash crop is cocaine.  The main product of Obasanjo Farms is chickens and eggs, and there is no way in hell that any one single farm in Nigeria can realistically yield that kind of daily turnover.  I am no apologist for Obasanjo, but your assessment of his farm income has got to be several orders of magnitude greater than whatever the true figure happens to be in the real world.

@Jakumo, Odeku and Mariory,

You fellas need to take it easy! Ah, Ah! Why so overly combative? I go start my own oh! All I did was present facts and you are all spitting fire. I find it hard to believe that you guys (avid politicos?) have never come across this issue before. This thing no be today tory. One thing I have never done (or indeed, will never do) is fabricate allegations against that war criminal. I do not need to do that. His record speaks for itself. My assertion is based on the utterances of King Kong’s rabid dog, Femi Fani-Kayode. You guys don’t like the source I provided before? Ok. See:

And,

If you still do not believe those sources (as you lot are evidently so hard to please), see the BBC report:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/4037633.stm

Also, the affirmation that the main products of the Farm are only chicken and eggs is very wrong. I have been to the farm on a school trip. I saw with my eyes its size and scope. Others include Palm Oil, Fish, Veggies, et cetera. See: http://www.obasanjofarms.com/welcome.html

Yeah, even King Kong has a website! This internet access thingy should not be made available to everyone!

When you chaps are done reading, come back so we can talk (I believe apologies are in order). Oh, Odeku, I really don’t expect you to make any useful contribution in this matter – for reasons I have previously identified.

I am waiting.

That is true mocha. I have just noticed the discrepancy thrown up by that. My first post actually read daily but that has since been corrected by my subsequent post.

It is indeed unclear about whether the income is gross or net. But that is not the only thing that is unclear. The King Kong of a man himself has many 'unclear' qualities. Sadly, our brother Odeku appears to be following suit.

Nutter before I go back to read those new links of yours, I must remind you that Femi Fani Kayode, whose name takes top billing in your list of quotes, is known to have a penchant for smoking copious amounts of wild wood weed, and as such his utterances can safely be assumed to have been issued "under the influence".

In response to his space cadet credentials, Femi Doobie Kayode has in fact been shunted out of the limelight of presidential spokesman into the Siberian wilderness of the Tourism Ministry where his pontifications are largely ignored as they should be.  Your reliance on old quotes from the smoking room are not helping your argument one bit, big guy.

It's obvious that you lot have chosen to turn your face the other way. The truth stares you in the face and all you can do is to turn your back at it. It's all well and good.

Most of you guys come in here and call people like Alams, Ibori, Dariye and other governors in the country thieves after reading and listening to local news, believing such to be true and nothing but the truth. Here, you made my brother Nutter go all the way to search and convince you all about the King Kong OBJ's monthly income in a farm that is believed to be one of the biggest of it's kind in Sub Saharan Africa. Has anyone of you guys gone to this farm to see how big it is? Do you know who OBJs clients are? Nutter came with evidence to justify his claims in a very clean and clear manner. But because y'all have chosen to believe a lie, you damn whatever he has to give as evidence. I hope  your consciences have not been seared with a hot iron, to the extent that you all love believing lies.

Odeku feels if King Kong OBJ earns so much in a month, he should be among the first 100 on Forbes list. Well, I'll tell you that such frivolous things as ''appearing'' on Forbes 100 doesn't move people like the king kong. Besides, doesn't it sound absurd to ''your hearing'' that a ''serving'' presido's company in Africa should ''appear'' on that your glorified list?

Brother Nutter, no mind them. I know these things are true.  I'm even more surprised at Jakumo. He has a very good sense of judgement when it comes to ''these things'' but it seems he has joined the crowds of late.
