Notting Hill Carnival
« on: August 13, 2006, 07:01 AM »

Notting Hill carnival is here again, 27-28th of August 2006, heres another opportunity for Nairalanders to meet up.

i have just heard that Nigeria (for the first time) is going to have a 40 foot-long float at the Notting Hill Carnival. The event is sponsored by Obalende Suya, MTN Nigeria and Nomi Communications UK (Nomi call cards).

Does anyone have information on joining the float?

Hi wale, this topic has been posted by Orlaitan on Aug 10, shouldn't we continue with that thread? Meanwhile, it'll be such a lovely idea for Nairalanders in London to unite again, since I (& likes of Coco29 i guess) missed yesterday's party. Let's make it Bigger, Better & more fun!!!!!!!!!!

Notting hill carnival is a two day event, but the main one is on Monday the 28th of August 2006, its a bank holiday (public holiday) so lots of people will be coming.

Notting hill is in London,  where are you? contact me for details on getting there from your location.

ps: if you are in Nigeria, you go to the airport first Grin Grin

Lol. Well, i live in Birmingham, but on the 25th i'll be going down to London for a couple of days to stay with ma cousin so while i'm there i'll like to go to the carnival. She lives in Peckham by the way so you could give details on getiing there from her location.

if your cousin is going to the carnival then she'll take you

Nottting hill is in Notting hill  Grin, it's the whole area of the notting hill area http://www.quickmap.com/carnival/a2.htm

the nigerian section is usually @ cambridge gardens  Wink

Bus 36,436 from peckham and 148 from camberwell green will take u near the place, trains might be a better option depending on the traffic  Grin

@loverbwoy, once again have you come to my rescue, thanks for the details. i also advice the use of Underground (tube/subway). be aware that some stations may be closed on that day and some bus routes will be diverted.

check www.tfl.gov.uk  for up to date infos on getting to the carnival from any location in London

@diddy4, its a bank holiday on the 28th, i dont think any business will be taking place. you need to be at the carnival.

@clocky, if u were asking about Damsal, well the answer is no. She had reasons to believe that terrorist were targetting the carnival so she stayed away. if u permit me, id say "fear fear girl" Grin Grin. i hope she never reads this.

@gem 87, i apologise on behalf of all the boys at the carnival, a few of us misbehaved for sure but ass grabbing ke! that one na sexual harrasment and u should sue. They tried it with two female friends that i went with last year and believe me i didnt find it funny. i got in many fights for their sakes.

Anyway, here is a pic, Proffessor ID

its too late, we don lost already. Anyway it was fun. i wasnt in a hurry to get home and i didn't even plan to attend the after-party. Did any one go to the after-party at Astor Bar or Club N-Tyce?

I am particularly interested to know about Jimmy Jatt's perfomance.
