Why The Stigmatization Of Rape Victims?
« on: August 14, 2006, 04:25 PM »

Most times, i wonder why victims of rape and sexual abuse are been treated like lepers. To be frank, most of this helpless souls went through the most traumatized period of their lives only to be rejected and disown by the society that breeds the perpetrators. If we are not going to deceive ourselves, not all victims of rape are shabily dressed ladies or girls. There are situations where two years, three years , ten years old girls are been raped by callous uncles, brothers and houseboys. don't you think it's time we take up the fight for these helpless souls who are waiting earnestly for a nation to call their own? Don't you think we should all rally round these bleeding souls and throw away the generational principle of my son cannot marry a Rape Victim? Can't we just agree with one mind and associate with these bleeding hearts to stop the stigmatization of Rape victims? I need an answer to this puzzle. I believe we should all join hands and give hope to these Victims of Corrupt minds.

, hope for the Girl-child

N.B: lifted is not a victim of Rape and has never been sexually abused in her life. She believes in Fairness to all. Let this STIGMATIZATION Stop

There's nothing romantic about rape.  Topics like this should be posted in the Crime section.  Thanks.

As long as there are people that say she called for it it will never stop.
People it happens to hide it as if it was them that commited a crime.
I see no bright light in this case

If women come together to fight against it, they'll prevail.  But if each woman feels it's ok for other women to be raped except for herself, and joins stupid men in victimizing them, women will continue to suffer needlessly.

I agree with you; they should not be stigmatized.

I want to rally for the cause but where is the rally? Huh

I can't think of a solution to this except using word-of-mouth to change people's minds.
