I doubt anyone would disprove that Nigerians as a whole have the balls to strap explosives on themselves in the name of Allah or the so-called fight for freedom, not even if occupied by a foreign military force.

My friend in Kano told me that the easiest way to start the killing is for an okada rider to run to the town centre and shout 'Somebody has insulted the Holy Prophet in Shalawa !' and the mayhem starts(most times after Jumat prayers ! ).

While not claiming to 'know-it-all',as far as I can recall,its usually a shame for esp Igbos&Yoruba to have their chilren fend for themselves,yes they do street trading,housegirls/boys etc. But an Ibo or Yoruba child roaming the street months on end without a roof,while begging for food. . . . . . . . . .  . .really beats my imagination. If the family is uncapabale there'll be some aunty,cousin to do the needful.

If the above is remotely true, why are the number of homeless children in a  country numbering in the MILLIONS? I mean come on. Whether shame applies in one region or not, the fact remains that these fragile human beings are on the streets, with no roof over their heads. Aren't most of the families up north who abandon their kids incapable of taking care of them too?

Don’t you see how ridiculous that comes off? Sort of like someone telling me people are beheaded in the north but those beheaded in the south get their heads used for juju so that means the southerners value life more than the northerners do. Are we still on planet earth here??

I'm certainly not a tribalist/racist,but we must learn to address our prblems frontally & untill we do this. . . . . Sometimes I get pissed off with the tribalist here trying to accuse us, the northerners of every henious crime

However as Kobojunkie said it is a national problem. Recently we saw on channel 4 how children are being accused of being witches. We also read of babies factories in Enugu. And there are many such king of children in west too. However, the problem in the north is that the Almajiri system is institutionalized, to the extend that political leaders are afraid of taking side against it. In the olden days, the Almajiri system is not about beggin, they started begging when people started to become materialistic and also when farming ceased to be the main economic activity in the north. Mos t of the farming activities then were done by the Almijiri and they are paid in kind.

People should understand that in the North before the British invade us and killed the Sultan in 1903 we have our own system of education - which is Ajmi based. Because of that the western education faced a steep opposition in the north. Adequate awareness and transistion programmed was not created to facilitate the transformation of the Almjiri system of education. Our governments have failed in that respect and that is what we all complaining on daily basis.

A Homeless child in the north is just as helpless as a homeless child in the south. Lives are taken for granted for in the north as well as in the south. A head taken off by a juju worshipper in the south is same as a head taken off by a rampaging jihadist in the north. Please Let us stop offering up twisted truths, the bitter truth is the north and south, both in the same deteriorating conditions and this has nothing to do with racism in America but the fact that we as a people have yet to show ourselves better in anyway. This is a nation filled with finger pointers and less with problem solvers. The bitter truth is no single tribe or people are clean and so calling a spade a spade but continuing to inject bias is not going to work. Not for us or the future generation.
