~My Explanation for having extensions will be simply beause i fancy Rocking a new look!! Nothing wrong w/ my natural hair at all . . . i do love rocking my natural hair a lot more than weaves tho!! Thats if & when i do allow my hair to grow . . . for the past couple of years,i've been more than happy rocking the bald look!

80% is too low girl.  I think the real stat is something close to 97% of black women. i'm wondering the same thing myself. lol

~Glad to be in the 3% not that there's anything wrong w/ the 97% rocking their wigs/weaves ,as long as it looks fly & they're rocking it . .am cheering them on . . . only quams i got is when the weave looks like its been dug from under the bed or borrowed from an extint generation!!

I've only tried a blond wig and a black wig ~ both afros
Although the black one is too big for my face I'd like to try something else but i mostly just stuff my hair into a hat or under a scarf.

Exactly those types of afro wigs although the black one was bigger, the hair practically covered my forehead

All this relaxer and wig really is no use and is costing a lot of money, think of what you could do with all that cash instead. Its not like we werent created with hair on our head, [color=#990000]plus theres LOADS of videos on you tube supporting it. [/color]

Okporoko is a type of fish that has been dried so well, it becomes almost like leather. So yea, it means strong.

Several years ago I would have answered the weave question with a simple, "You know, it's only hair. As long as it looks good, why should it matter? Natural hair is harder for some ladies to manage, is all" I wouldn't have cared. A few observations have changed my thoughts.

Thing is, black women say that weaves are only fashion choices when a majority of them simply hate their natural hair. If an anonymous poll was set up to ask these women if they thought their own natural hair was ugly on them, a majority would answer in the affirmative. Let's be honest.

I tried growing out my natural hair years ago and got serious flack for it from friends and family. I succumbed to the pressure, got a hair relaxer, and regretted it. I have nothing against weaves and extensions in and of themselves, but when getting weaves and all stems from this, I rethink. I mean, someone on NL likened relaxing and covering natural hair to personal hygiene ( similar to shaving armpits, etc) - I think it was in a thread similar to this. WTF?

I don't put the blame on solely women. Black guys don't like afro hair on women either (they could make do with relaxed hair but the weavalicious chick gets all the phone numbers). They always yap about how natural hair is the most desireable on women and how "fake" girls are these days, but when you ask them to name the sexiest celebrities, they'll say: Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, Halle Berry, Sanaa Lathan, Gabrielle Union, etc. And, pray tell, how are they fashionably similar? You got it! I mean, a male poster confirmed it himself, 100% agreeing with the practice and saying that women wear extensions to please men (and implying that men are displeased with the natural look).
