Hi friend,

I think it is not a bad idea to take up such a job but you need to find out the kind of person your boss is and why that position is vacant.

Above all, resist all forms of temptations and appearances of evil.  So says the bible.

Cheers.

The prestige and pay of a PA job depends entirely on the person you are personally assisting Wink.

(if you were personally assisting Seun, you won't earn as much as the president's personal assistants)

I don't like the idea at all.

Why can't men be their P.A?

I will feel very insecure to have my woman does that.  Grin

Some even travel with their Boss in the name of Personal Assistant.

It's iire, just as long as he knows where the limits are. I mean a lady has to take precautions as to not put herself in any compromising positions. If the dude starts to think that you're his girlfriend or something, walk.

Jennifer Lopez once had a personal assistant to tweak her nipples so they would be hard for photoshoots. I would gladly do that a whole summer. I think after 3  months I would get bored and start looking for something else to tweak!

Well i don't really see much wrong in it so long as you have tons of patience, be of mellow disposition and very flexible because most people with PA's can't function properly without their PA, so one is always on call to do things for them

I don't see any prob with working as a PA or Personal Secretary to a male boss.  The challenges a lady PA may face with her boss, is the same thing any other lady  either a marketer, admin officer, clerk etc can equally face  working under a male boss.
I think the issue lies on the surbordinate to actually know her purpose of being in the office, whether shes is there for relationshp/sex or just to work.  Her action/inaction and mode of dressing will speak her purpose.
Granted that male bosses tend to date their PAs, but the lady in question can either encourage him or discourage him whenever he shows illict interest in her. You can encourage him by indirecting telling him(by your dressing or you actions/inactions) that you understand his nonverbal/verbal remarks or discouraging him by simply ignoring him and ACTING OFFICIAL in every dealing with him. I am not against light mood with your boss, but when he is taking it for another thing, start ACTING OFFICIAL a RESPONSIBLE man will stop.

I  have worked as a PA to a male boss, yes, i was harrased by him, but i never gave up in acting official and he stoped it and never repeated it.

some ppeople may date them for securing their job, but i bet you, you will never last in that job.

Every job/profession has its ethics.  There is nothing wrong with working as a Personal Assistant at all as that is exactly what I am doing now.  The fact is that be You a woman, or a man; you should always observe the ethics of your profession.

The job itself is not bad, I believe everything depends on individual's level of self control.  If your boss is principled, you will enjoy your job very well.  There will be a very cordial relationship but purely official.  The truth is that, it is an eviable position that even people in the office will use you as an object of gossip but when you know where you're going to and you are in control of your job as in being very effective/efficient, you don't give a damm.  Its a position that will expose you to so many things and people in life and if you are a career person, it will take you to higher levels.

THEREFORE, THE JOB IS GOOD BUT THE PERSON DOING IT SHOULD BE POSITIVE AND AVOID ALL SORTS OF THINGS AND OCASSIONS THAT CAN LEAD TO TEMPTATION.  THE R/SHIP SHOULD BE CORDIAL AND STRICTLY ON BUSINESS TERMS.

Wink Wink ;)If you really want to live the life you deserve, it's essential to let go of those beliefs that are not supporting you.

I think being a personal assistant is the girl that picks madams call and says oga is in a meeting
when he is enjoying with his mistress somewhere.  Or better still with the P.A. herself.

Why carry someone else's files when you can have yours?

If the boss is genuinely in need of a personal assistant to boost his productivity and keep him organized, why not?

There is nothing wrong with a man looking for a PA, as a matter of fact, men are more confortable with a female PA than men.
As a lady, u just have to know where to draw the line, the thing wey u know say u no go chop, make u no use ya nose smell am, when you are on a trip with ya oga and him buy u gala and nice drink, make u no take am, when he buy u biscuit and coca cola, tell am you are fine, because when you take all that, na trouble u dey invite, a man thought a woman owe him as long as the woman take anything from him, and the price is always you know what, so stay away from trouble, wish you da best, and if you are easily tempted, go and buy an underwear that is made of steel, make sure it gets padlock too, wear it be4 u leave the house, and leave the keys at home, but some boss could be sturborn, if he want to take you to a welder to remove the padlock, tell him, u no go, me don give u the piece of my mind oh, good luck

Well my stance on this issue is similar to good point some people have made , there is nothing bad as long as each other know their limit, but due to rise in standard of corruption in nigeria, i will not advice any girls to go for PA,because of my real life observation with PA bosses.many of them are womanizer, fulnicator, adulterous because they have advantage of being at the top, many people think financial crimes is the only corrupt act,but we have to stand up to fight sexual scandals among our rich boss.well abroad it is good,it rare for both party to cross their bondery because they are not as corrupt as nigeria, nija women don't do PA unless you're prepared for challenges in it.

Working as a PA for any gender reqiures you to be ethical in your practice.
As long as u remain ethical, u are going 2 be free from all sorts likely unworthy gestures because your boss knows where you stand and he or she understands the fact that you wont compromise.
Should in case your boss does not understand your kind of person, its better u look for your greener pasture elsewhere.
like we all know "prevention is better than cure"
And besides you should not even things thay wont pay off at the end of the day

Is easier said than done.

If you have being there before you will know there is always something magnetic
between the opposite sex working close together always.

Personally our country is not yet mature or should i say most individual that needs a FEMALE personal assistance, most of them has unwritten logic; silently there.
SO MALE to MALE, FEMALE to  FEMALE. Undecided Undecided Undecided

There is nothing wrong with that. It all depend on the way you carry yourself. Even if your boss has another intention other than his work, waka oooo!. But honestly there a lot of them who needs a PA just to do their work and nothing attached to it. I have a friend like that, and her boss is dating another person in that company and not her.

hey i don't see anything wrong in it,

for me i prefer working with an opposite sex than my direct sex, yah this because we will think from two different ways for the business "strictly business".

just play your part in the business and avoid any form of hum hum so the guy wont look twice, just be yahself, some dudes like me are not like that, ok

be yourself, discipline, any trace , as human you change no big deal, its just a must come story,

bye, tk care

honestly its easier said, but when u find yourself in that position,u will undastand why the situation goes the oda way round sometimes because, this is someone u see virtually everyday of the week(aside from weekdays depending on the nature of your job),u travel with him most times and handle issues(official) and projects together, lets be honest a time will come when there would be this sudden attraction, but regardless though the lady should DEFINE HER LIMITS FIRMLY because lik the saying goes DNT SMELL WHAT You KNOW YOU DNT WANT TO EAT Wink
