Bob Marley: 24th Anniversary of His Death
« on: May 12, 2005, 07:59 AM »

aka The Rt. Hon. Robert Nesta Marley

Yesterday marked the 24th anniversary of the Rastafari legend Bob Marley.  His influence in the music world is immeasurable.

This post is to pay tribute to Jah man himself and that as he goes in Zion, may peace be on the Jah people here on earth.

Bob Marley, even though he is dead his music continues to live in our hearts.

I am yet to see any man who sings with so much wisdom as Bob Marley. He is a musical Philosopher, and a Freedom Fighter for the downtroden and the oppresed. It is difficult to find any other Reggae artist that can fit into his shoes.

Undoubtedly, his name has been synonymous with Reggae Music.

It's so unfortunate that Nigerians do not celebrate Bob Marley like Ghanaians do. There was nothing to even show that yesterday was his 24th anniversary. The whole place was so dry. If it had been Ghana, it would have been fun all night.  Well, maybe it was celebrated in other parts of the country.  But it's obvious Nigerians do not attach much importance to his anniversary.

I love raggae and when it comes to raggae, I beg Bob Marley is number 1.

'Robert Nesta Marley (February 6, 1945 – May 11, 1981) better known as Bob Marley, was a Jamaican singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He was one of the widest known reggae musicians of all time, famous for popularising the genre outside of Jamaica. Much of his work deals with the struggles of the impoverished and/or powerless. He has been called the Charles Wesley of the Rastafarian faith for the way in which he spread Rastafarianism through his music.
