hey,guess wat i am in the same situation right nw,if not worse,my girlfriend got a word in church dat i am truely her future husband,she belives so much dat we cant give birth to SS.but sincerely,i dont think i ve dat kind of faith,i am still confussed on wat 2 do,my mum has told me to leave her,but believe me,its not easy.but in situation like dis,i believe God sees the begining from the end.if we are mearnt for each other God word ll surely come to pass.if not,well, but as at nw,i am planning to use my head not my heart,

She got the word from someone in church or from God himself? What about you, where do you get your word from? Well if both got the word from God with all sincerity without any self deceptions, well go for it. alternatively,your madam can always go for screening abroad during pregnancy to determine the genotype and an option of abortion is offered.but what about the stress and the guilt.
i dont mean to be cynical but please lets do a reality check.until we find ourselves in certain positions we cant really say the extent we can react.
This to me is one of the best answers i have read so far. Do u have the money and resources to send her abroad for screening and determine the genotype of the baby and make that painful decision to abort the child? i heard of a family that did this and now have AA and AS children only?
Do you have money for the bone marrow thing they do?
i have a relation with an SS child, she had the best care and love ,her parents fortunately are wealthy she had check ups done outside Nigeria on a regular basis. she died. leaving her parents devastated in old age. she was all they had luckily they had an adopted son. Can you adopt will you agree to do this and live happily?
i have heard SS children who got cured claiming to be healed (i know of one or two) i also know of SS who God so kind do not suffer as much as the majority but these cases are so so few. i am more familiar with the ones that suffer greatly SS class mates and even recently a family friend i happned to stay with. the experiences are not good i tell you. when this girl starts with her crises the house is on fire.i saw this with my own eyes i lived with them.
i still wonder y people will want to thread this path. Enough has bin said

I hear Pastor T.B Joshua @ Synagogue is recruiting AS epople for his medical research and breakthrough - u might wanna try him out. If dat one no work - check out Sat Guru Maharaji on Lagos Ibadan expressway and you will never remain the same  , Why risk 95% pain, anxiety and suffering for your children (not you) if you can avoid it? Are we trying to tempt God here?? It's a different thing if you guys did not know, but you do. Like the others have mentioned, adoption is a good option. Here in the states, once the medical teams knows your carrying an SS baby, they 'take care' of it. |

i think there is a way you can know the genotypic status of a child during pregnancy. i have a brother, his wife and himself are both AS and they are doing great. They have 4 healthy children without any SS. They used to go for the test for every pregnant and once they know the status of the baby to be AS, they opt for abortion. May be you do more reseach on it. I advise the poster to do the test many time with different doctor and ensure they are competent doctor with good equipments. A sister of mine did the test when she was in the University (Unijos) and she was tested to be AA. She did another one during her youth service, and also tested AA. But the story changed when she married and, after a while, relocated to Saudi Arabia. She had a cause to do the test again in Saudi and she was tested AS. Subsequent tests (here in US) showed she is AS. i know this is what some people will define as miracle, but not every case like this is miracle. Good equipment and experinced not quack doctors can do the miracle too. Though her husband is AA, but what if the husband happen to be AS? i will advise you to go on with the girl if you have the BELIEF.Talk to your God. He is the one who looks after the AA s, the AS s, the SS and even the DD s, the WW s and AP s if they exist. However, the first two might not be SS if you are lucky and if you are the type who love to be counting his children in dozen, i think you have a rethink now! |

A S Partners should NOT!!! Break Up.The only fear is that When A S partners reproduce,In genetics,they tend to produce an offspring which is a Sickler(S S) which is at a probability of 0.25 or 1/4.That is d chances are quite slim to reproduce a sickler,Reason is because there is a probability of havin a 1 sickler out of every 4 Children d partners reproduce.
So my advice 2 U is go ahead n MARRY but never produce multiple offspring to reduce d chances of an S S being born.Dont be a part of abortion,also go 4 genetic counselling by a Specialist Doctor and always have faith n trust God.Thanks n God Bless U

I have an auntie who had 4 kids and two of them were SS - and they both died after turning 9yrs?? so 1 in 4 is NOT always the case cos I know.Even the parents said it out loud that they regret putting themselves and those kids (including the ones still alive) through such pain and misery. |

If abortion isn't an option for you, I recommend counseling and educating yourself as much as you can on the disease and how to cope with disease etc.
