i found it hard to believe all this ish,i have a whole lot of southafrican friends.I've never recieved any kind of resentment from them or a sign of jealousy,they are all blacks,they all believe we all are 1 and still coming up.even some ghanians i meet on the net,they all show me love .so whats the fuss about this jealousy and all that.

My responce may not answer the question the poster asked but since we are talking about the relationship of Nigerians with other Countries, this may be an additional info.
My sister is presently in Senegal for business and she cannot believe the number of Nigerians who do business with Senegal.
She was told by her business parter to look out for the people who boarded the same flight with them on the streets of
Dakar and she was not disappointed.
She said Senegalese in the market go out of their way to learn English because of business from Nigerians.
The hotel she is staying is full of Nigerians, the question that she is repeatedly being asked by Senegalese is why Nigerians are so hardworking!
So you see, we also have great positive impact on this section of the continent different from the news of Naija 419 we hear everyday!

As a Naija man living in the UK, i would say a lot of other African countries hate us for the simple fact that many of them wish they were Nigerians, but are not. Then again, on the flipside, many of our compatriots' character and behaviour leave a lot less to be desired! and finally, the nigerian in diaspora many times spend half of their time villifying their own motherland. Many times i have white friends who tell me that they have heard all kind of nasty things about Nigeria, and all from Nigerians themselves! so i guess this situation is multifarious, and you can get as many reasons as you care to look for. What i know and believe is that UK or not, i will continue to represent Naija anyday! Even if the queen refuses knight me except i renounce Naija! God bless Nigeria!

I am a kenyan, and i don't hate nigerians, however there are things that personally i don't like about nigerians i.e arrogant and bossy. now i know it is not all the nigerians but majority of the nigerian men that i have socialised with were just too bossy and arrogant. don't get me wrong now, i don't hate my nigerian people, actually i almost dated a nigerian girl but she transfered to another college and my friend is nigerian and i love him no matter his shortcomings and i know he loves me no matter what. also some VERY FEW nigerians have done some things that have given u guys a bad reputation and that is something that will take time to fade off. ALL IN ALL I VIEW A BLACK PERSON AS MY FELLOW AFRICAN AND A BROTHER FIRST the rest is determined by my experiences.

I have been following this discussion from page one. It just reminds me of something that happened recently. A couple of months ago, I was in Germany and went out for dinner with some friends from various places, american, german , mexican. One of them came with a Tanzanian colleague. on hearing i was a Nigerian, he asked me why all Nigerians are loudmouthed and corrupt. Naturally, I was pissed but managed to restrain myself ands calmly asked him if it is true that all Tanzanians are lazy and dumb and can't think for themselves. Of course he denied it and did not did not find it funny. So I told him that I though I have heard that being said about Tanzanians, I am smart enough to know that it can't be true but however he was doing a good job of convincing me of the fact since he was obviously not smart enough to know that everyone of a 140million population cannot be all corrupt. The others were following the conversation with interest. Of course, he was very careful about the remarks he made to me after that. For me, it was really sad that that an attack like that came from a fellow African. However, he was in the minority because I have friends from Zambia, Uganda, Senegal, Malawi, Congo and Kenya and have never had problems with them
I must admit it is not easy being a Nigerian. however, God bless Naija

The drug culture has been in South Africa LOOOOONG before any Nigerian came there my friend. Your people are the ones who are addicted to the drugs, even children. You are supplying the customers. These Nigerians left the most populous country in Africa to sell drugs to your people, what does it tell you about South Africans and addiction?

Look, its not Nigerians who are raping newborn babies to rid themselves of Aids. Lagos is not the crime capital of Africa, thats in South Africa, and its not because of Nigerians.
The world is more appalled at the atrocities going on in South Africa than 419 or drug dealing Nigerians. I think you need to turn your attention to the villages full of children who have noone to bring them up because their parents and grandparents have died of Aids, rather than drug dealing Nigerians. I understand your anger at criminal Nigerians, please deport them. However it doesn't mean you can distort the reality of the non Nigerian populace in South Africa.
Nigerian drug dealers are actually the least of South Africa's social problems.

Londoner, i agree 100% when you talk about rape in SA and also drug dealing etc, but the fact of the matter is, Nigerians are a headache to almost every gvt in this world, Who is being beheaded in Saudi Arabia, Thailand etc for drug traffiking? You know, i don't even have to mention it. The thing is Nigerians will do anything to get rich, even killing their own wives or children just because they want to live in a double storey and drive a 4x4, You live under the pressure of wanting to compete amongst yourselves, Londoner dear, don't get me wrong, i have a lot of Naija friends who are so cool. I play their music, some of it with pigeon English that i don't understand but it really entertains me. I have a problem with this group of Naijas in Hillbrow, Its those low lives from the populous country who come and do whatever so that when they go back home they can try and compete with the cream of Nigeria.

Tatenta, I totally understand, but what gets me annoyed is that South Africans will scream about Nigerian drug dealers, but wont say a peep about the Nigerian doctors and university lecturers who actually add to youyr country. you know as well as I do that there are people coming from Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique etc who are also getting into crime in your country yet you guys seems to want to give all of the blame to Nigeria.
The point is, much of the crime in SA, was already there to begin with. I'm not saying Nigerians don't add to it (or any other recent immigrant for that matter. But to put it all on the shoulders of Nigerians is actually quite reaching, as well as a distortion of the truth. As for your assertion that Nigerians are a headache to every government in the world, it depends on whether you weigh the Nigerian contribution while you are toting up our less than savoury individuals.
Why wouldn't you see us as a headache when you only look at our drugdealers and not our professors, our fraudstars instead of our businessmen, our pimps rather than our literary achievers. In fact, I think you'll find that when you also look at the contribution of African nationals around the world, Nigeria stands out far and above the rest.
At the end of the day, whether Nigerians are arrested for drug traffiking in Thailand or not, it doesn't change the fact that your own people are also not known for their moral integrity. In fact, the crimes we hear about in SA, by SA's goes far beyond crime, but is quite inhuman to be honest.
Having said that, I totally understand why you would take that stance against Nigerians, but you have to also be reasonable.

They have little or no ideal of what it takes, let me refeers you back to the Bible, it takes about 400 years to Isrelites to dwel in the land of of Egipt, and it also takes alot of years to remove the mentality of Egipt in their system even in their own land.

A very steep hill. I used to have Nigerian friends when i was in europe for a few years, they had okay jobs,even though being students, and had nice accomodations. Yet after a while i began finding out that they were pushing drugs ,and saw with my eyes that they were. I was almost arrested once just for being around them and since then it happened twice with other nigerians. Since then i had learnt my lesson. Why should i place myself in danger , because my ''fellow nigerians'' cannot try to abide by laws when we are in other countries. If you come here on the plane everyone is really nice and stuff , but as soonas you arrive in lagos for example, order and manners aswell as discipline that were present in people go out the window. As soon as the plane touches the tarmac everyone gets up and starts moving around ,when they should remain seated till the plane stops. then you hear really stupid comments from some people like '' i beg , we de fo nigeria know, you no fit tell me sometin.''
'but the thing is people from other african countries e,.g GHANA and elsewhere sef now do 419 in our name, so that we get all the flack for it.''.
Maybe but we are the main source we do it a lot more often and on a greater scale in numbers. If it were the majority of the people of another african nation that were doing it they would get the flack.

don't they have every reason:
Nigerians sold weapons to murderers and torturers, stole the people's belongings, and stole a lot of the money that the international community donated for peacekeeping. Individuals may have served with honour, but on the whole they became part of the problem, instead of the solution.
