we have all heard of nollywood being next after hollywood, how true can this be? when i see films from bollywood (india) and from china and japan, i wonder how come nollywood is next after hollywood. hollywood isn't even the 1st. hollywood is just popular due to box office hits. at times when i see what is dished out of nollywood, i wonder how people still buy and watch these movies. movies in nigeria make you wonder if really there are directors. for instance, take a scene frm a movie where two people where whispering, the whisperers were farther away from the screen, and those they were whispering about were between the screen and them. if i the audience can hear the people whispering, why can't those they are whispering about, who are in between me and them hear? at times when you see the costumes in nollywood, you just get an headache. have you seen the costume of a supposed police or military officer in a nigerian movie ? i could go on and on, but what do you all think of nollywood? is there any good reason for the hype?

Raymand, d truth they say hurts. this is not a matter of criticism. even d film makers are not to blame. we the consumers are to blame cause we stil buy the nonsense they make. why wont they make such movies when we buy it. what i am saying is a little more effort br put into film making in nigeria. for yankee, if anything go wrong, director go shout, "CCUUUUUTTTTTT!!!!!!!", then them go retake the scene. for Nigeria, whisai, na abeg dey rough am go.

You say critisize as though it's a bad thing! if people don't critisize works of art, the main essence of art is dead as improvements and innovations won't happen!

Maybe in terms of quantity, Yes! but not quality. Very few Nollywood producers do quality work. Most of them chuck out half-baked homevies to make quick money, and why do people keep buying? Let's be more selective! We've got to raise the bar!!!!!!!!!

rhema, tanx a lot. thats the best thing i have heard. our producers just shurn out movies without bothering about quality. do you know the number of movies that are released weekly? i am sure most movies here are not even edited before being released. if we stop buying, they would stop producing nonsense.
