Well you just said it. What the girls in Nigeria should learn is not to be so darn greedy and money hungry. Anything with a dollar or pound sign causes a major frenzy with some of them so, don't be fooled into thinking the foreigners are the ones taking advantage, from what i hear the girls are hard faced hustlers and no angels.
Whatever happend in this Anita person case, we'll never know, my guess is looking at the man i doubt she was seeing through rose petal glasses, and all loved up. She saw an opportunity and took it, unfortunately some of these men are clued up about the games the girls play and happily act stupid to get what they want, case of you scratch my back don't you think?
Don't believe they are there to abuse the girls, its just sad that the situation of poverty has bred a new generation of hustlers, who get what they can how they can. Its all about the system. having said this, i don't believe all girls are like this, some refuse to join the madness, and to those i salute, better to have your dignity intact than go sell your soul cheap to sometimes the not so highest bidder.
Look at the kind of men, they hang about with , they are just wrong i wont touch them with a badge pole and neither would the girls if they didn't have greed take over their minds.

Are you mad and jealous that these foreign workers that can't hold down decent jobs in their home countries are f*cking our bootylicious sisters with our oil money, while we figure out how to govern ourselves? You should be mad but don't blame the girls, because they're products of our f*cked up society.

The only thing I can say here is, based on the kind of thread and the kind of posts I see on Nairaland, I can say without a doubt that most of our people don't know a thing about the white man. The white man is a man that could do anything on the heat of the moment, just a little second of loosing control could lead to some very regretable out come or even death [ statistics shows that most maniac and serial killers are white men], most of the white men that kills their girl friends or wives or even their children, if you interview them they would always say I NEVER WANTED TO, or they might even say that immediately after committing the crime. All you people out there be honest to yourselves, how many times have you done something and after somebody asks you why did you do it and you said I never wanted to, for me there is non, everything I 've ever done are things I wanted to do. About your question ''Are white men abusing our girls ?'', they could do worse.

Yes but what is the greed on behalf of Nigerian women perpetuated by? If you live in a place that is corrupted by white people but the results of the corruption by white colonialist is, corrupted black people in charge of Nigeria. As a result, these women use what they got to get what they need at first and then it turns into using what they got to get what they want. White men will pay top dollar for some Black you know what. Nigerian sisters don't prostitute their self because that is what they want to do, they do it because society tells them as well as all black women that the only thing they are are good for is a good F--ck! So, as a result to bad economics, the nigerian woman falls prey. She begins to take advantage of the stereotype in order to (what she believes) survive. To her, this is the only way. It is a sad thing but to answer the question "Are Whites abusing our girls?" The answer is yes.

Yes.
Of course the answer is yes.
Men take advantage whenever it's possible.
Notice I said MEN, b/c Naija men treat Naija girls, yes girls, not just women sha, in a shameful way.
And then what?
They want to cry online or *hiss* when an omoge walks by w/ her "white baby".
The best solution is to treat ourselves better! MEN THIS MEANS YOU!
*Acknowledge female sexuality. As long as Naija women have stifled sexualities they'll only feel free act out and/or sell it.
*Men stop treating women in a way that makes prostitution look enviable. And if you don't know a Naija woman who's been treated like cow shiit by her hubby, hell if you don't know a dozen in a day, then just ask somebody.
The sexual politics & gender relations in Nigerian are such that women don't believe in men. They don't believe that they'll be faithful, loving -- basically the men they want to have. So young women -- or maybe those who think they're brave or "captialist" *eye roll* -- decide that if they're going to be treated like rubbish they might as well stack paper (ya heard?).
I bring this up b/c everyone is crying "greed greed" & while I'm not eliminating that as a factor we shouldn't forget that prostitutes have agency. They have the power to say yes and/or no. They have buying power, money! How many women feel like agents of their lives in Naija? When people feel out of control, they act out of control.
Before anyone attacks me let me say that I love my people sha. But these "girls" are girls, they are young & impressionable even if they walk w/ arrogance, fcuk w/ expertise & talk old. All that stuff is put on like a child who dresses for make believe.
If we call them our sisters then let us act w/ the patience of kin; if they're not your sisters then mind your own biz & stop judging!

I have been avoiding the disgusting posts that have been festering like cancerous sores in this section of nairaland for a while now. Not because I don't have any thing to say, nor because I have lost my appetite for a good intellectual challenge, but simply because, well, the debates that have been going on lack the very thing that makes any debate profitable: intellectual maturity.
Against this backdrop, I am sure you will understand that I am not merely flattering when I say that your post refreshed me like a glass of cold water in a parched land.
I agree with the perspectives you stated in your response: well thought out, balanced, mature. With a person like you, one would not even mind conceding because you can at least be sure that what your are conceding to is in some way or the other sensible. Kudos to you.
Like you said, when we begin to address issues holistically and not with shortsightedness, we would have done ourselves a great service, not just as members of the black race, but as human beings. Isn't it so convenient to point to foreigners' abuse of our women while we turn a blind eye to the many atrocities our men commit against our women? Did I hear someone (probably a guy) say prostitution is detestable? How about this for size: the way some of our men treat our women is so base that it would make a prostitute seem like a virgin. The sad thing is that in our society spousal/ female abuse by males is dismissed, even lauded under the oppressive rubric of "culture." When foreigners do the same things to us, we suddenly develop selective memory loss. The black man who is angry because a white man abused his daughter last night easily forgets how he pounded his wife (the mother of his daughter) in front of the same daughter last week. The fact that our women are being taken advantage of by foreigners should be a wake up call to our men and not another excuse for directing our pent up hate: call it what you want, self-hate, racism, ethnocentrism, bigotry, they are all manifestations of the same endemic problem. Maybe when we begin to treat our women better, they won't run off into the lion's den. As long as we continue to treat them badly, they will keep running into the den, if only with the hope that "God" might send an angel to still the lions mouths.
Again, Chinani, well done and keep that up.

My dear, you've done a lot of research on many ''Nigerian-English words'' I never knew you could put them up the way you've just done. I think you're gradually joining us here in Naija.
