i can't salute statistics until i see hardcore evidenec of their effect.i served in ogun state. my camp was 80% easterners - this is what an ibo  graduate said when he saw me reading a novel -

" bros, all the book whey u read for school no do you?"

within the engineering dept where i work - only two of us have 2'1s

one is from delta, schooled in the east, and is the dumbest engineer you've ever seen. one time last year, during a meeting it was all about blasting him ( any 'sharp' dude can get a 2'1 - but the real world needs the ability that is supposed to come with it)

so i can understand that to foreigners outside the country, these 'statistics' are a straw to grab onto in their wild quest for ethnic superiority, but down here in naija, they are just dubious facts that employers would consider warily.

You see how dumb you sound?. You are using individual instances to justify a whole ethnic group. You sound like you have a serious complex issues with igbos and it may be career related. i suggest you go and sort it out. I also suggest you look into the inherent problem among yorubas first before taking out the speck on another tribes eye. it's a pity that as educated as you claim to be, you still turn a deaf ear to the idea of one man marrying multiple women to procreate abundantly even when he has no resources to take care of them. Oyb, you don't need an engineering degree
to figure out the problem.

Quote
i have heard from more than one source that UNN professors grant engineering graduates 2'1s( unless they offend in a major way) to give them a competitive advantage. this may be why employers don't take the revered 2'1 that seriously anymore

Were you not the same person that took offense when someone said that those that went to school in Illorin are semi illiterates and the person cited the same example you wrote above?. You also claim that one nna boy graduated from your ivy league school without knowing how to write his name, is that not a contradiction?. Living in denial will not solve anything, boo. I was banking on you to tell your muslim brothers to back off and breed responsibly.

i  have no particular beef with ibos - other than the ones who try to sell me crap , and those who feel that having money is an excuse to be a prick - you meet a lot of those in lagos; but i don't where someone gets off on coming to a multicultural forum to blather about ethnic superiority.

what nonsense

of course i'm using individual instances - our experiences are much better at  shaping our perceptions, than someone blathering on the internet.

How can people be talking of one-Nigerian and unity in the colonial contraption when an academic achievement of a certain section of the society is about engendering a civil war?

For example, I wrote:

First:  South-east region has maintained an overwhelmingly lead in all areas of achievement according to the official statistic from JAMB office.

And punk like you wanted

Second: South-east region has maintained an overwhelming lead in all areas of achievement according to the official statistic from JAMB office.

Overwhelming is a verb. “A present participle of a verb known as Overwhelm”.

Overwhelmingly is adverb.

In the two sentences, the word lead is used as a verb

I hope that you were taught in the university that you can not tweak the meaning of a sentence by using a verb to qualify another verb.

However, you can use adverbial clause to qualify a verb thereby adding a punch to your sentence.

You are beginning to show the sign of a lazy student. Every attempt you have made to convince the forum contributors that the bloated second class honor you have arrogated to your sorry arse as a legitimate achievement has met colossal failure.

I must not fail to burst your bubble by letting you know that the unfortunate sketch you have posted is what a professor of English language from developed countries would declare as “too wordy”. A loudmouthed dullard such as you would always fail a test of impromptu essay. It would be suicidal to assign the function of writing simple office memorandum to a jackass such as yourself.

I think you are beginning to show your true character as a plagiarizer. It is always easier for dunces to dwell on another person’s literary work than to develop their work.

However, it is very refreshing to see that you have finally fallen back on the use of punctuations. I guess my stumbling onto you has not been a total waste of my time.

LOL @ Dede's comment about the foolish Obong. Seriously where was the Obong and his clique of retarded fools who worry about ceremonial stuff when his kit and kin got sold out cheap. I feel sorry for Bakassi people man. Instead of leaders of their ethnic group fighting for their right they are worrying themselves over some title like Eze Ndi Igbo that really holds no real authority in their vicinity neither does the Obong title. The problem with us in the East is that we like chasing shadows, fighting when there is really nothing to fight about. Where were the idiots who burnt the store of an Igbo man there when Cameroonian army was killing their kith and kin in Bakassi. Biko we need real leadership in the Eastern region not the like of the Obong who will ignore real issues to quarrel over nonsense. Let him come to Enugu sef we will crown him an Obong or Eze sef. It won't make any difference to the average  Enugu man.

FYI This is not a diss or even an insult coz if it is u go piss for trouser. Take it as tough love coz you and I know I love my Efik/Ibibio/Oron/Annang ppl and I'm related to them but ya Obong needa do better. So people quit being so stupid and insecure when dealing with Igbos. Chineke!!!!!

I don't get reason why people are fighting over the idea that Igbos are always excelling in many areas including education? Its a proven fact. Just get used and get your own shit together without trying to push us down coz it won't happen. ONE NIGERIA MY ASS. This just proves to me again that the hatred in Nigeria towards us and other people is not about to die out. Igbo kwenu!!!!

It is a known fact that birds of the same feather flock together. In case of you, Ibi, I am insidiously disappointed after we had brief period of English language exercise in the previous thread. I thought you would have upgraded your level of grammar but I guess the opposite is the case. You know as much you can grasp about the saying of bathing a pig.

How could you support an impostor who thought that verb should be used to qualify another verb in the same sentence? For example, the dolt wanted “overwhelming lead” to be used in the construct of a sentence.

Also, the fool who passes as the product of western Nigeria’s fee education program did not know that the word - medium is singular form of media as in the format of presenting information.

Let me throw my two cents into this debate  Grin

Mr Dede

You unfortunately got yourself twisted to bits over 'verb qualification' and all that jargon. . . .that is not the import of oyb's post.

Simply put, your conclusion - 'Igbo's overwhelming lead in ALL AREAS OF ACHIEVEMENT' cannot be arrived at based on the evidence of 'JAMB office statistics'.

JAMB does not measure 'all areas of achievement' so how can their stats be the basis for such a conclusion.  Huh

In your haste to appear learned, you only succeeded in exhibiting your poor comprehension of oyb's post. There was nothing gramatically wrong about your post, but it IS logically flawed.

One more thing - 'insidiously disappointed'??  Grin

Definition of insidious

1.  Working or spreading harmfully in a subtle or stealthy manner: insidious rumors; an insidious disease.
2. Intended to entrap; treacherous: insidious misinformation.
3. Beguiling but harmful; alluring: insidious pleasures.

are you 'harmfully spreading' your disappointment, beguiling but harmfully dissaointed or 'treacherously disappointed'?   Huh Grin Grin

For one eager to denigrate Nigerian education and make claims of a post being 'too wordy', I expect you will be conversant with the term 'meaningless bunkum' - the only definition suitable for 'insidiously disappointed'Tongue

@ Oyb
