A simple assessment of South-East, performance in Education has degenerated
into a full scale tribal internet war.

Shows that Nigeria is not a united Nation. A banana republic like some will say. Sooner or later, the division will be geographical.

@debosky

Another weird fellow has joined the gang of ignoramus but in this case this fellow seems to be open to correctional instructions.

One of the cardinal sins in grammar is to use a verb to qualify another verb in the same sentence.

Another sin is the inability of certain individuals to understand that a sentence conveys a thought.

Having written the above sentences, I would want these posters to understand that the flair of grammar is tailored to the author’s or individual’s style of writing.

It is unfortunate that you got twisted out of human form because of the adverbial clause – insidiously. However, I am of the view that you have come across the use of phrase – “deadly appointed” and this construct does not actually meant dead as in dying but to convey the degree of the disappointment

Again, baring any form of ulterior motive to JAMB results, I wrote that “south-east region has maintained an overwhelmingly lead in all areas of academic achievement according to the official statistic from JAMB office”. I stand by my statement within the context of our discourse as it relates to JAMB.

It is very funny to read posts after posts how individual filled with ethnic bias and hatred had attempted to commit suicide because JAMB published her progressive report. I bet you that all these loudmouthed nincompoops did not know that few kids of their ethnic root sat the JAMB in the south-east centers as the kids of Igbo extraction sat the JAMB examination in the centers located in south-west.

Please help me out with the below post that was manifested by the second class degree holder – oyb.

The post’s grammar is a cesspit and devoid of any logic. Plagiarizers are good at other individual’s literary work

i  have no particular beef with ibos - other than the ones who try to sell me crap , and those who feel that having money is an excuse to be a prick - you meet a lot of those in lagos; but i don't where someone gets off on coming to a multicultural forum to blather about ethnic superiority.

what nonsense

of course i'm using individual instances - our experiences are much better at  shaping our perceptions, than someone blathering on the internet.

it would do you good to look at the numerous logs in our(yoruba) eyes rather than your incessant bitching on hausas - abeg go and marry wilywily
- tho the guy hates yorbas too

the nna boy dubbed a yoruba guy - named femi - what more can i say

Your pontification is not required here - a simple recognition of your omission/lack of clarity in your post would suffice.

'Flair of grammar' is pointless if the meaning is obscured - aim for clarity and not for flair. A 'learned academic' like yourself should be able to do that. Wink

Now you say it is an expression of thought? Very well, that is acceptable. But please drop the verb collocation mumbo jumbo. No one ever questioned the validity of the verb usage in your post. You seem hell-bent on justifying something that wasn't even in debate - this once again points to your lack of comprehension of his post.

It is obvious that in your haste to point out his apparent stupidity, you fail to grasp the import of his challenge. Is it too hard to admit that?  Huh

Erm. . . No you didn't!  Grin You said

Quote
It is only an imbecilic sucker who could be in doubt that since the inception JAMB, south-east region has maintained an overwhelmingly lead in all areas of achievement according to the official statistic from JAMB office.

Now only an imbecilic simpleton would think 'all areas of achievement' is equivalent to 'all areas of academic achievement'. Admit your error and receive redemption!  Grin

Oh I won't even go into the 'since the inception JAMB' nonsense.  Grin

Once again you go into 'adverbial clauses' to defend your illogical and completely WRONG usage of an 'adverbial clause'.

'Insidiously' does not convey a 'degree' of anything, it is a definitive 'adverbial clause' that lends a NEGATIVE/HARMFUL connotation to a word, as expressed in the dictionary definitions I quoted. In this case, the example of 'deadly' is completely irrelevant. It seems you have problems grasping principle of simile and logical comparison, in addition to the poor comprehension already displayed.  Grin Grin

To put it simply, it was wrong usage in an attempt to sound learned. In the words of my good friend Doyin13, this was an exercise in 'meaningless verbosity'  Grin Grin

I see nothing with oyb's post - he didn't punctuate religiously. But it doesn't remove from the clarity of meaning in his post, something you have serially failed to do.

Bit of disclosure - I also scored 700 in the GRE Verbals in 2005, 90% percentile.  Grin

PS - I have no issues with Igbos. I do have issues with self-important hobos who can't construct simple sentences but keep making egregious errors, while claiming to be 'learned'. I've dedicated my life to eliminating such charlatans.  Tongue

There are just as many dark skinned Igbos as there are light skinned ones. If not more. If people are telling you you dont look Igbo, then check your features.

Genevieve Nnaji doesnt look Igbo either and its not because of her dark skin. And Edos arent known for being dark skinned. Undecided

Notice that for almost all the years, four out of the five igbo states were in the top 10 states. Thats  80% of the igbo states showing academic dominance.
I am not putting this up for critics, but I am putting it up for the igbos in the house, that we may have a sense of achievement in the land wherein we are disliked and subdued.
Soon enough, we'll take our rightful place in this country and when that happens, our self actualization as near as it can be.

PS: Like i always say,  you can't hold a Jew down for too long. They are naturally high-flyers. Its just in them.
Obrigado.
