Doctors in the house,
I know a woman in her early fifties that was diagnosed with Ca Cervix (stage 11A), and abdominal hysterectomy was carried out in December 2005. Two months after that she went in for Radiotherapy which lasted for 5 weeks.
However, 2weeks after the therapy, we noticed a small mole- like growth on her abdomen and upon pressing it, some whitish- puss came outc of the place. She was then taken to the hopsital and upon series of scans, drugs, and topical treatments, the opening did not heal.
rather it was expanding. (this was 4months ago)
she also developed pain on the right pelvic area and after series of scan, a pelvic mass was diagnosed indicating tumour encroachment. and a lobulated mass was noted in the right iliac fossa with a tail extending to the umbilical region.
Finally, we met with a cancer specialist and he suggests that she goes in for Chemotherapy and called what she has "sister mary josephs nodule"
Now i have this fear for chemotherapy and its associated side effets.
MY QUESTION IS THUS:
what else can be used to cure this type of illness ?
what is the womans chances after the chemo treatment. (i read somewhere that the disease has poor prognosis)?
Should she be operated on?
How come she had st. mary josephs nodule after some dosage of radiation.

?
How come a tumor encroachment after surgery and radiation has been carried out.
