Pastor Timothy Olufemi Akanni: Second Marriage And Fraud
« on: September 08, 2006, 01:52 PM »

WELL  KNOWN  PASTOR  4  that  MATTER

To: My Brother and sister in d House,

Why are we discriminating between the attitude or say behaviour of the two Religions( Christian and Muslium) ?

Look at this matter about the so call MAN OF GOD, Late Pastor Timothy Olufemi Akanni , The Director of Finance and Supply of INEC while he was alive.
It 's a pity and unbeleivable that  a pastor of a Penticostal  church in Abuja before his death in d october 22 Bellview flight 210 crash  at Lisa in Ogun state has  secretly married another wife legally without knowing to his only  married wife at home which bring about all wahala after his death.(a pastor  o)

My Brother n sister where are we going in this world?. Belief me sincerely  this life has turned upside down and only God can save us.

YES, My point of view for posting this to the forum is for d two parties ( Christian and Muslim) to stop coment baddly about eah other.
Why this? This is bc    most people use to say   Muslim use to marry more than one wife which most ladies of now adays dislike. (AGREED).

Now, which one is that of  a so call man of God, Late Pastor Timothy Olufemi Akanni, that engaged himself  in   such a thing? Is  that a good lagacy for his followers?   My bro n Sister, let think twice and know   what are doing . don't look at d behaviour of the Religion leaders else follow d word of God in Holy Books ( Bible and Quran),

Nevertheless, we have seen another case like that of  Pastor KING.S and many  other cases like that in both religious .

Finally, My Bro N Sister, I will lik to say whichever religion u found yourself just beleif that, that is what God realy want for u and try as much as possible to worship him well in  d right way of worshiping in your own religion and he shall answer your prayers.

Moreover, beleif that we hav only ONE God and his prophets such as ( Jesus christ, Prohet Muhamed (SAW)) etc.     It is now depend on every individual behaviour towardhis / her religion.

EFCC seizes N7bn assets of INEC dead director
Wednesday, 06 September 2006

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured a court order, confiscating alleged ill-gotten assets, worth about N7 billion, belonging to a deceased Director of Finance and Supplies of INEC, Pastor Timothy Olufemi Akanni. The assets include cash in local and foreign currencies; landed properties in choice areas in both Lagos and Abuja; shares in bluechip companies; registered schools, bakeries and expensive cars, among others.

The order was granted ex-parte by the vacation judge, Justice Anwuri Chikere, upon a request by the anti-graft commission on behalf of the Federal Government.
The Commission had told the court that it was investigating Pastor Akanni for various weighty complaints touching on conspiracy, abuse of public office, diversion of public funds and money laundering.Besides, EFCC alleged that relations of the late Akanni and the deceased's cronies who were still being investigated over some petitions were making frantic attempts to withdraw money from the accounts of the companies sought to be forfeited, being alleged proceeds of fraud.

The anti-graft commission proffered arguments before the court on why all the assets must be confiscated, supporting same with affidavit evidence. The high court judge ordered all the assets and properties listed on two separate schedules by EFCC belonging to the late Pastor Akanni to be temporarily forfeited to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The deceased director stripped of all his assets by the anti-graft commission was a pastor of a Pentecostal church in Abuja until his death in the October 22 Bellview Flight 210 crash at Lisa in Ogun State. He was one of the 117 passengers that lost their lives.

The interim order confiscating his assets, two weeks ago, was one of the last set of orders granted by Justice Anwuri Chikere of the Federal High Court, Abuja before she was transferred to the Kaduna Division of the court.Pastor Akanni was a director of INEC between 1996 and 2005 during which he allegedly acquired a huge amount of money. No petition was raised when he was in office as INEC director.

Trouble started shortly after he died when his assets were to be shared. Pastor Akanni was said to have married another woman legally without the knowledge of the only wife known to the family. The new wife who claimed to be legally married to Pastor Akanni with children showed up in Akanni's home, claiming to be his widow. The only wife at home never believed herself, given the fact that her husband was a respected man of God. But when the  new wife tendered documentary evidence to back up her claim, the first wife known to the family vowed never to recognise her and that the alleged new wife and her children would not benefit from the deceased's assets.

All efforts to make the first wife  see reason proved abortive, a development that provoked petitions to EFCC for confiscation of huge sums of money totalling one billion in two local accounts maintained by the deceased before he died.
When EFCC moved in, it was discovered that the assets the two women were fighting over were insignificant, given others owned by Pastor Akanni in and outside the shores of Nigeria.

Assets worth N7 billion were uncovered by the EFCC. Investigations are still on-going in the matter since some accounts were traced beyond the shores of the country. But while investigations were on-going, efforts were made to tamper with the rest of the petitions, a development that made the Chairman of EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to apply to court for confiscation of various assets already uncovered and believed to have been acquired with proceeds from ill-gotten wealth.

The uncovered assets, belonging to the deceased pastor, now confiscated, and listed in two different schedules include a house at Victoria Garden City located on Plot H 70, Road 42, VGC; a plot of land measuring 3,510square metres at Banana Island, Foreshore Estate, Ikoyi; a plot registered as 25/25/26 of plot 4, block 5, measuring 1145.5sq metre; 4 terrace houses at Parkview Estate, Lagos; property on 11, Olaosebikan street, off Alli Street,  Okota; Victory Plaza located at Area 11, Garki, Abuja and two duplexes situated at 13, Mississippi street, Maitama.

The $55m estate of Timothy Olufemi Akanni came to the attention of the authorities after his two widows rowed about who should inherit it.

It was only after his death in a plane crash last October that it was discovered he had a secret second wife.

The ex-electoral commission director's assets now pass to the state.

Can anybody imagine what would have been the reaction of our brothers and sisters from the opposite side of the religious divide if this infidelity and large-scale embezzlement were associated with a Muslim cleric?

Dear Hardware et al:
(PART A) It is very easy to start calling other peoples character into question following certain untowards discovery, but be very careful and examine your own lives. Pastor Akanni is a 'man' of God not God; i.e he is still a man therefore subject to human emotions, failing and mistakes like all of us. Most peoples see pastors as super-human beings, they are not. Matured christians understand this and therefore are always praying for their pastors for GOD'S HELP and GRACE. This is because situations like this can bring shame and dishonour to the church IF IT IS TRUE. This is between the legacy of Pastor Akanni, the law of the land and God's judgement in the eternal. For many of us who are calling him names now, becareful and rather learn from this rather than judge and condemn.

(PART B) For your information dear Hardware, Christians and muslims do not serve the same God. We serve the God of Abraham, God of Isaac and God of Israel, whose name is JEHOVAH, ELOHIM AND ADONAI, EMMANUEL, JESUS CHRIST and other names, but the god of muslims I do not know his name (neither am I interested) but I know they face the east to pray to him. Our God is omnipresent, He is everywhere: east, west, south or north, He sits in heaven and the earth is His footstool; He sits in Heaven and directs the affairs of men. If you have the bible read the book of Ezekiel 8 vs 14-17, maybe you will know the god of muslims.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Shalom

Pastor Femi Akanni late was the area pastor of RCCG, Abuja. It amazed me when Nigerians jumped into conclusions, lets know what and what business or investments the man was into before crucifying him, hes dead now anyway as regards second wife I don't think he married 2 wives I think he had a mistress outside wedlock, that would definitely be before he was born again and also lets agreed he maried 2 wives, I am sure he must have done what they call restitution, I think his mistake was to have given the woman her own share of the properties. anyway don't let us judge the dead?

« #7 on: September 12, 2006, 06:41 PM »

what are you saying. the second wife produced documents that she was legally married to the man. born again or no born again, bigamy is illegal! if he married the surprise wife first then why did he marry the second one w/out divorcing her? and if he married the iyawo-ile first, what is the excuse for an outside family.

two. do you see all the properties this man has? seven billion naira! whether you are man of God does not justify the stealing of anybody's money. all the people that insult abacha in his death nko? please jare, did they not also say stella used naija's money for plastic surgery. ehen what is good for the man of the devil is also good for the man of God.

as for omofineboy, that is not what the evidence presents to us. why are u so sure he only had a mistress, the woman provided documents to show that they were married. u people are given the man too much credit ahn ahn.

who is judging. the bible says stealing is wrong, i don't care if you are dead or not. it is more than likely that his seven billion are ill-gotten

Dear Giggite and Omofine boy,
Really, I doubt if the money could have wholly come from 'investments'. We are talking about a civil servant in the federal government. Let EFCC investigation prove that. But my point is let Christians use this as an example that you not only represent yourself in whatever you do, but the whole of church of God. Hence our conducts and attitude must reflect this. It is nonsense to compare him with Abacha; Abacha was and is still a man of the devil his master when he was on earth and now that he is rotting in Hell; but Akanni was a man of God. Both of them have gone to their masters now for judgement. Let the law of Nigeria investigate and take it's course and leave Akanni to his maker. However, from here let each of us start examining his own life at your place of work, school, relationship etc. Who is your master?

The Pastor secret marriage to a 2nd wife and the abuse of his office will not be used to condemn other Christian ministers nor a yardstick to compare the two religions. Those in the great religion seem to be pleased to shout that they can marry many wives. But how many of them are really taking care of their wives and children in this hard time? Alamajeri, those child destitutes roaming every Northern City is a clear evidence that Polygamy is not the best for a man in hard time like this no matter, the stand of your religion!

I am not trying to start a religious war here or to side anyone.

But note that IBB, ABACHA, ABIOLA (with ITT), UMARU DIKKO, ATIKU ABUBAKAR and many many of our corrupt leaders were M'uslims.

Like wise MAURICE IWU, OBASANJO, IBORI, ALAMIESIEGHA, PETER ODILI, are a few examples of very corrupt Christian leaders.
