poems in the spirit of AFRICA
« on: February 08, 2009, 09:42 PM »

guys this my poem collection thread, i promise to post a new one after five replies lets startwith my favorite DEMISE OF MY MOTHERLAND
I wake up in the morning
look out my window
Automobiles speeding past
Men haughtily dressed
Women scantily dressed
All madly in haste

Africa my Africa
does not look like thee
Africa of my fathers
Where at thou gone

Under the graceful full moon
Children playing  happily
Men drinking wine in peace
Women telling tales to the youth
Africa my Africa
this is thy beauty
thy beauty is thy soul
thy is is thyself

Oh Africa of proud natives
Now land of woes
No matter how many roads are tarred
No matter the good of civilization
No matter what it promise
Thou has become a land of woes

Africa my Africa
thou has lost thy beauty
civilization may bring comfort
but it also bring woes
for it's comfort
we pay the price of our soul
but for it's woes
A price is not attached

how did i do plese comment

i must say that you are really doing good, but not too good enough keep it up, just like you know practice makes perfect.

here is one of mine

           casualties of the heart

a mind that knows no song sweeter than a dirge
taste no good sweeter than pain
sees nothing other than blood
have no friends other than enemies
have no house other than the rough earth

see that bleeding heart
that wounded mind
that flaming soul
leave it please don't touch
for you see that flame less candle
burns faster in the inner than the speed of light
ha!
it suffer much pains than casualties of war.

The first poem elicit a nostalgic feeling Cheesy
The second  . . . . . . . well I dint understand Undecided
All in all, tis nice, but try to put a little rhyme to make it have a rhythm

VOICE OF MY FATHER'S
« #6 on: February 20, 2009, 01:07 PM »

Already it's morning
another day is here
tomorow keeps becoming yesterday
the future remains bleak
I now doubt the existence of a future

Get up and work
this is the voice of my father's
Get up and work
do something good for yourself
so say's my father's before me

I always knew my weakness
but greatest of them is laziness
I have always done below my abilities
because I have always done little

I have come to crossroads before in my life
I always knew the right path
but on it i never tread
cause I feared it was filled with thorns

Go tread that path
there goes the voice of my father's
Life is not always rosy
if you seek success
you must make work thy friend

Again I tried
again I failed
I did no wrong
I only tried the fast way
A horse that runs fast
don't run long
so say's my father's
If you must succeed
you must be slow and steadfast

Oh what a dilemma
I have never done all this before
How do I go about them now
To get what you've never had
you must do what you've never done
so say's my fathers

it's now simple
I have never worked hard
this is what i must do
Thank you my father's
