Hello guys,
I was just wondering - would you all be interested in a website dedicated to Nigerian cuisine? It would be a site where people could send in Nigerian recipes, and everyone else would benefit. Every now and then we could do popular votes online and giveaway prizes for the most popular recipe, or the most downloaded recipe. We could also do a focus every other month or so on cuisine from a particular part of a country, e.g. 'Delta Week' or 'Middle Belt Week', and this week the focus will be on recipes and foods form that region of the country.
I think: * it would be fun * it would showcase Nigerian cuisine * Nigerians all over the world (subject, of course, to the availability of the ingredients!) would benefit from it * Non-Nigerians would also benefit from it * It will be absolutely FREE to post a recipe, and to download a recipe
What do you guys think? I could get the site up and running, and handle all the web-based stuff.
Let me know your thoughts!!

It's a cute idea, but, if people wanted to post recipes so badly, won't they be posting them on Nairaland already? Afterall, it's "free" to post a recipe on Nairaland and "free" to read a thread where recipes have been posted!

Well Seun, I'm glad you think the idea is 'cute'. Of course, people can, and are already posting recipes on Nairaland - but I was talking about a 'dedicated' Nigerian FOOD site, that's all - just dedicated to promoting Nigerian foods. Thanks for your input.

I'm all up for the idea, man. Do you know how many times I get stuck in the kitchen and run to google? Frantically searching for a way out before I waste the gas any further?
Please please man, you'll be doing me and loads of other nigerian-food lovers a favour because one day, as they say that soup will have to be cooked. Last week (and I say this, bowing my head in shame) I got stuck baking a cake. YES, A SIMPLE CAKE. Well, I had to google it and bake the cake from google - related seaches. Lets just say the cake is still in the fridge.

naijacutee, thanks for your input. What say we wait to get a few more users to indicate an interest, then we can discuss among ourselves a good name for the site. I'll register the domain name, no worries, and we take it from there.
But let's get a feel from others as to what they think about the idea.
Thanks again.

Do you know how many times I get stuck in the kitchen and run to google? Since Google obviously works for you, what do you need the new website for?

Seun, do you think it may be possible to put up a "Sticky " type thread where we could all post recipes without having to wade through all theĀ food related threads then? It just may make acessing the recipes easier for everyone???
In fact I'll start the thread , if you could place it permanently at the top of the Forum maybe it could help.
Thanks
Naija recipes thread coming up!
