I was introduced to hip-hop when I was this short
Still short I'm still being introduced to hip-hop
Street talk ain't 4 me; u educated riff-raff
I laugh when I hear most of your rhymes laced with gang stuff
Hip-hop is of the mind, and of the soul
Let the music hit u; notes of the cleff stave take control
U ignoramus; your music stinks worse than your anus
your bane is, u think ure famous and that thats all the game is
C'mon,  even the earth feels my music
The leaves shake, and the clouds bounce 2 it
I duet with the birds singing earth's chords
And u curse because u fear u've rhymed your last verse
This is an art and walahi ive played my part
I'm an artist to the core and I'm going to say it 1ce more
this is an art and walahi ive played my part
I'm an artiste to the core and ure going to admit it 1ce and 4 all

2)
Hip-hop dresses up like a flower
Her virginity gives me the power
To drum, dream in her arms
Every night I'm re-seduced by her charms
9-5 I'm in cloud 9
It's like being on a constant drug high
I fly and I float without ever having to roll or choke
And u,  unitiated who never drank in the pleasures of hip-hop
Ask me to do battle with u,  blasphemy unprecedented
We're like Jesus and Judas
Joseph 'n' his brothers
Oedipus and his father
A tragedy together , forever
Come on, even the angels feel my music
They back me up and then they bounce their wings to it
I duet with the fishes in the sea and they sing with me
Can't u see that history
Is being fulfilled in your very eyes
I was prophesied, foretold, told about and still u refuse to see it
This is an art and[/b]"Walahi" I've played my part
I'm an artiste to the core and ure going to say it 1ce and for all

A black Woman's Plea, by Sista

Black man, excuse me, but I thought I was your natural Queen, the
One you were supposed to love unconditionally.
The Black woman, me. There was supposed to be no other.
What did I do wrong? Didn't I do what being your Queen came
Naturally to do?
Wasn't it I who comforted you while you suffered with those
"Black Man Blues?"

It's no mistake that I am your natural mate.
Keep it real. You know I am the only woman who can relate. You know relate, To yours, mine and our ancestors' struggles.
Did you forget? When whitey socked you, he socked me too! I was
The one who went down, with and for you.
I forgave you when there was nothing you could do.

You say my loud mouth bothers you, and that is what stops you from
Coming through, but tell the truth! Is it the realness of the
Profound style in which I communicate that intimidates you?
Blame that on my foremothers; they instilled that realness in me.
I don't complain. You know what? I'll never change.

Have you, Black man? that is the question I am getting at.
You were once firm, strong, loyal and true. Now it's "I'm leaving You 'cause I am through."
I know I have some flaws, but you gave up to soon.
It seems like you dumped me when you thought the struggle was
Through.
Don't be fooled, It ain't through yet, and even if it was,
Shouldn't you still owe me respect?
It seems to me you lost your values. It seems to me you lost all
Pride.

Come back!
Back to your families,
Back to your Blackness,
Back to your dignity,
Come back!
Come back!
Come back!
Black man, please come back.

                                                                    My Love

My love is like an ocean
                                                      It goes down so deep
My love is like a rose
Whose beauty you want to keep.

My love is like a river
                                                     That will never end
My love is like a dove
With a beautiful message to send.

My love is like a song
That goes on and on forever
My love is like a prisoner
It's to you that I surrender

Am not a good love poet.

love Defined

What is love, but an emotion,
So strong and so pure,
That nurtured and shared with another
All tests it will endure?

What is love, but a force
To bring the mighty low,
With the strength to shame the mountains
And halt time’s ceaseless flow?

What is love, but a triumph,
A glorious goal attained,
The union of two souls, two hearts
A bond the angels have ordained?

What is love, but a champion,
To cast the tyrant from his throne,
And raise the flag of truth and peace,
And fear of death o’erthrow?

What is love, but a beacon,
To guide the wayward heart,
A blazing light upon the shoals
That dash cherished dreams apart?

And what is love, but forever,
Eternal and sincere,
A flame that through wax and wane
Will outlive life’s brief years?

So I’ll tell it on the mountaintops,
In all places high and low,
That love for you is my reason to be,
And will never break or bow.

I love this poem.

i sit and listen
to the lyrics
judgeing by the standard
so thoughtful of heart
wish we could do more
love life to its fullest
wish we could say more
not music just poetry
the stars as it shines
the twinkle excites
the soul ignites
as poetry flows tonight
a night of bliss
pure pleasure
so glad for poetry
so glad to life

 @somegurl
this is ur poem, I just hope u like it.

' Anguish'

I lost my heart to heartbreaks,
Early in life when i could wail,
Enough to flow into lakes,
Through lonliness of self,
But with the creative touch of the gods.
I paint with words,
What I've so onged but can't experince,
My definition of how it should be,
Life, love and you,
The trinity that's next to God.
It's moment into sunset,
A time to paint,
A point where words rain,
When my soul sails forth,
Through thoughts into poetry,
My forte.

If I wasn't me,
We would,ve walked when the night is cool,
When hearts melt into the warmth of embrace,
A point where love isn't just the feeling,
But our breath and actions.
Like a toddler,
I would bath you,
Put you to bed,
Sing you to sleep,
While wrapt in my arms.
I really would've given you a rose as you wake,
The symbol of a beautiful undying feeling,
But see what people have made me,
Just a man who's deep in solitude,
A painter of thoughts,
An admirer of yours.

This goes to my friend's mother, a nurse, who died as a result of breast cancer

' Tribute to a Mother '
Ashes to ashes,
Dust to dust;
From dust you were created,
Unto it you shall return.
So she'll be lowered,
Amidst wails, relief and sorrow,
A disciplinarian and fighter,
A life that wasn't soured,
Your kindness wasn't solo,
Miles apart from being bitter,
Our epitome of motherhood.

And we mourn,
A mother and nurse,
Vector to breast cancer,
An apostle of christ,
Our loved one.
As your sunset,
As we light a candle to your memory,
I ask but why,
Why the memory is but short,
A lifetime isn't enough for your likes,
As my friend mourns his mother.
