ORIGINS
Oh Nigeria, the land of my birth, How long shall you suffer? worn out by the weight of hopelessness Amongst wishes for better qualities of life.
Whose desire for incorruptible leadership Is as distant as the starry skies.
Oh sweet land of tropical bliss, Do your mosquitoes still bite at night? Do your cocks still crow at dawn? Yearning to announce a new era of hope for your children From the hardships and desperations of your ghettos.
Oh Nigeria, my Fatherland Does your endless political strives still Drowns the mind with uncertainties.
Like a burning candle, Melting beneath the heat of its own light, I melt with compassion for you, My Motherland
Oh sons and daughters of Nigeria, How long shall you long? From wishful thoughts.
It is I, I said, Let me cut your coats for you According to you sizes.
Like Oliver Twist, I wanted more Bean cake and Fried cassava porridge Processed on worn out kerosene stoves.
I'm from the tongue that discerned the taste, I'm from the stomach that couldn't discriminate.
I am from the Country of power outages Whose electric bills had been paid Yet there was no electricity to use.
I am from fields of shattered dreams, I lent a helping hand From my broken wings,
I couldn't afford to buy some glue I've had too many mouths to feed.

Acan, Dear, I cried to read these very true words. Not able to relate, partially capable of understanding; yet i empathize all the same. I wrote this to my husband: I KNOW YOU DON'T WANT TO TALK I CAN SEE YOU HAVE SOME THINGS ON YOUR MIND I WON'T ASK YOU TO GO FOR A WALK THESE DAYS, IT ALL SEEMS LIKEIT'S ALL A WASTE OF TIME YOUR THOUGHTS HAVE BECOME BOULDERS AND YOU'RE CARRYING THE WORLD ON YOUR SHOULDERS BUT WOULD YOU DARE LAY FREE IN THE BOSOM OF YOUR ETERNAL LOVER? PUT YOUR HEAD IN MY HANDS AND JUST FOR TONITE, TRUST ME WITH YOUR THOUGHTS, LET ME MAKE EVERYTHING ALL RIGHT. OKO MI A TA TA, SLEEP IN MY LAP AS LONG AS YOU WISH I'M SERVING MYSELF TO YOU. MY LOVE, YOUR FAVORITE DISH LET ME RUB YOUR SHOULDERS AND TAKE AWAY THE PAIN HAVE I TOLD YOU HOW GREAT YOU ARE? YES? WELL LET ME SAY IT AGAIN THE MOUNTAINS WILL GIVE WAY TO YOU, BE PATIENT, GIVE IT SOME TIME LIFE WILL DO WHAT YOU WANT IT TOO NEVER GIVE UP AND NEVER STOP TRYING YOU CAN MAKE YOUR DREAMS HAPPEN ALL YOU NEED IS A LITTLE FAITH UNDERSTAND IT MAKES ME HAPPY JUST TO SEE A SMILE ON YOUR FACE I JUST WANT TO BE BY YOUR SIDE NO MATTER HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE I'M TELLING YOU NOW, AS YOUR WIFE THAT GREAT IS WORTH THE WAIT.

OH BROTHER---OH SISTER! I had to write you. I think that it’s better this way. It prevents interruptions in what I want to say. Years have passed and we haven’t talked about things that are real and true. It’s seems I focused so much on myself that I forgot about you. I forgot about the way you laugh, but I remembered how you made me cry. I forgot how you were always there when others passed me by. I got so mad, that I told myself that I would be better off alone. I thought you hated me, so I hated you and that’s why I left home. It’s sad to me that someone else has my blood running through their veins, Yet the direct thought that I relate them comes from memories of pain. We are all older now. My how time does fly. Of all we’ve gone through together, I can only ask why. Why when you look at me do you see an enemy or a foe. Do we hate each other? Never loved each other? Just don’t love each other no more. We’ve made a habit of blaming each other and even putting our mother at fault. But God said, come to the altar and ask forgiveness if against your brethren you have any aught. We were children then, but we’re adults now. Why not leave the past behind. Will this poem cause another argument? Will this be how we die? With unforgiveness in our hearts and pure hatred in our minds? Our family is very slowly but very surely starting to pass away. We can’t even get together to celebrate a holiday. We all had a hard childhood. We had things that we went through. You did things to me. I know that I did things too. But I want you to forgive me because I have forgiven you. This is not a judgment but just tell the truth to yourself. Where you are in life was chosen by you and no one else. We all went our way, look where life brought us from. TO VOLUNTARILY GO BACK, IS MORE THAN IGNORANT. IT'S DUMB

Barbel was a lucky find Who knew so much good could come out of a one night stand Too many close calls is no good for me I have being through hell And now I am here Experience indeed is the best teacher As vigilant as the meerkat manor So has become my approach in every manner From now onward May only favorable things come to me From the casinos of Las Vegas To the restaurants of London I said Let there be fun Even fun without consequence.

Love fills the room is easy to see~ We're gathered together where we need to be. Sharing our joys and heartaches too and finding out all that is new. We are so connected, and I believe that always makes it so hard to leave. The power of love is never so strong as when we're with family, where we belong

Yeah, hallucinations, My heart holds no flair, It's all but tribulations, A phase without aspirations, Far below fair. It was a request, That which when fulfilled becomes an honour, Hoping it ends this sorrowful quest, A cultivation of things long ignored, Now, as I recount and nod. This isn't a poem, Not a piece for consideration, Just my failure to strike that rhythm, so many 'ehm', Knowing this will get me castigation, Ehm, _ _ _

Hi Franc, for me it is a poem sha. Since I often don't understand poems or just tiny aspects of them, yours very much qualifies as one to me! But joke aside, I get that you are feeling blue right now. Let me tell you that life has more colours than just one and that you'll reach the bright/warm side of the palette again. Until then, we're here for you. If you wish we can cry or we can footle with you. Nilla, Macalurs, isn't that true? Franc's not allone. Dear Franc, take care! *hug*

THE FUTURE
man thinks and wonder whats going to happen today, tomorrow or the the day after but can't come up with a definite answer though man predicted and anticipated on plans against the next day unaware what tomorrow might bring however this my be he is content with his plans since theres life theres always a hope that things will come to be better even if he knows it wouldn't
many have worked hard towards the future trying to see what it holds but have all come short of it by death or psychological reasons though the future holds a lot for us but are we really going to see what is it , it holds? or are we still going to be contemplating and anticipating on it? however this my be future will still remain untold a misery that will never be known how i wish the future can be review

SHATTERED TOMORROW
Don't tell me y'all ran out of words I surveyed the closest world And unveiled the many beings And I fear what the future brings For the future, I saw no prepared somebody 'Cause nobody want to motivate nobody Everyone wants to discuss irrelevances Party and drink till our agile day ceases Little do we know it could backfire Our dreams, the crooks we breed can murder And then we keep waiting for a saviour Hoping to create a pleasant savour We've got to open our inner eye and see That all we've got is you and me.

HAVE YOU SEEN HER
as i walk down the street i heard a whispering sound it was so feeble that i could barely understand but i knew by instinct that it whispers to me that she's somewhere close by i horridly looked back hoping i will picture her at a glance but didn't cause it was just a mere imagination
i see her face and i can't let go she's always in my mind and in my dreams but where could she really be i want her so close holding me tight that i can feel the warmth of her bosom her kisses so romantic that it will remain in my memory for years and her smile so calm as the sea when it's dawn as am ennuield in my taughts i woke up suddenly and realized i was caught up in an eclipse
would i see her that i have dream th this much about because it hurts so much anytime i think about her if only i can catch a glimpse of her and feel the warmth of her body such sweet kisses and make love to her my wounded heart will not be heal have been having nightmares and am afraid i might drawn in this misery if i don't find her soon i don't care how worth it may cost me i need you so you can take me away from this misery and put back life in me

The heart aches like a headache
Weighed upon by the uncertainties of life
See? this poor person hopes to become rich
But what does a person who has been wealthy all their life hope for?
Well, I guess power,
More and more of it,
And greed has no end.
Once, I wanted nothing
In the name of organized worship
And now, I want it all
In the name of health, of mind, of body
And every other component that completes me.
