If you have a large file that you want to reduce in size, you may not be able to compress it depending on the file format it is currently stored in. However, you can still reduce the size by reducing its dimensions. To do this in Windows, - Open Microsoft Paint i.e. START -> PROGRAMS -> ACCESSORIES -> PAINT
- Open the image file using the Microsoft Paint program
- Click on the Image option in the menubar, then select "Stretch/Skew"
- Change the Horizontal and Vertical parameters from 100% each to say "50%" each. If the image appears too small, undo your changes and specify a larger percentage.(NOTE: Ignore the Skew parameters that are specified in degrees).
- Save your file and you are done.
