Hi  Nairalanders.

Does your cover letter to support your application really matter? At times these people refuse based on sheer Prejudice and racial bias, stating reasons like  they are not satisfied on the genuineness of your fat account balance even though the account has got a good history. How can a ECO conclude that he is not satisfied on the genuineness of an account without confirming with your bank? Anyway, if you write a strong - worded letter protesting against such a bias decision and provide new evidence to state the origin of funds in your account and re-apply immediately, is there any chance that your strong worded cover letter might be really taken into consideration to give you the visa?

Hi fellow thread mates.

I also have this problem of UK Student Visa denial and it has been disturbing me since when I applied in November of 2006.

I applied for this student VISA for Masters Study in Adv Computer Systems to a University in Scotland UK and I submitted my Application in Port-Harcourt Naija. but I was denied.
An Uncle who was pretty determined to help me to go to the UK to study was always pushing me to appeal the denial and I did so but my Appeal was dismissed.

Anyways I was denied for flimsy reasons such as
1- The ECO stated that he wasnt satisfied that the money reflected in the account of my sponsor could be used to pay for my education,  even though I submitted 1-Personal bank account of my sponsor (popsie) containing the sum of N5million and his certificate of incorporation document for his business along with his business's acc containing N15million., and also 3 titles for land possessions ownership in a high brow area of Imo state each worth N10 million minimum.
2- that I didnt submit evidence that I had accepted the admission that was given to me by the University,  even though that was sent to the University direct.
3- That he was not convinced that I would really study in the UK, dunno why he stated that.

But my situation is quite complicated in 2 aspects,
1- As at the time I applied in Nov 2006 I wanted to go for Masters Studies in Adv Computer systems development bearing in mind that I had my BSc in Computer science at IMSU, and after I was denied, I explored other options that I had and I chose to apply and go to Poland to redo BSc again in Information Technology and Econometrics based on the fact that I was given an option to study Cisco's CCNA as part of my course included in my Tution fee.
2- I plan on re-applying for Master's degree after my 3yr BSc studies here in Poland with my BSc attained in Poland since the career I am trying to build is based more on this qualification.

Now I plan on just going on a visit to the UK and I dont know if that denial will affect my visit , or is it still possible for me to re-apply for the appeals and get that Visa?

(and then I wonder why the Nigerian government cannot do things that will be in the interest of their citizens, it is really embarassing that with all our natural resources and revenue we get from them , the Nigerian govt's foreign Policy dept cannot specialise on getting certain benefits for Nigerian citizens such as VISA free travels to countries such as UK,Germany, USA and Canada ,  If a small poor country like Poland's govt can get deals such as Visa free travels to Canada, UK and are vigorously fighting for getting the same advantage with the USA , I dont see why a country like ours with a newly discovered 13.5 trillion cubic feet of gas cannot get us such benefits if they dont want to make Naija better for us.

Please send advise on what I can do to me by email ndu1gaza@yahoo.com

Because I really dont believe in getting married to a Polish citizen and waiting for 3years to get permanent residence before I can enjoy benefits which Europeans get such as study grants to UK and other European countries and VISA free travels to other first world countries.
