I have problem of chosing the best free antivirus, i mean between avast and AVG, if we were to vote, i am sure one of those 2 will win.
Some will also say avira - but i have never used it yet

Used AVG for a long time and i was in love with it, until it got to a point i could not update it anymore, each time i try to update i get error msg. tried Avast and discovered it was not stil good enuf while i tried cleanin my external HD from some trojans, then tried NOD32 for a while and it only made it worse couldn't do a thing kept advising to delete files instead of repair, then Kaspersky did a little wonder but could not keep up wit kaspersky cos it detected some of my programs as virus and wouldn't let them run properly plus i was using Win XP compat. application for Vista, u know d difficultly if u know wat am talkin about, and then came Norton 2009, wow am sure this will break many hearts, it worked wonders fixed my external HD but stil didn't like it cos i never did, now am back to avast.  Huh

In all i stil think kaspersky worked the best during this period.

The best antivirus is not easy to say. The best way to find out what might be close to the answer is to visit websites with huge antivirus reviews. There individuals will give you their experiences and reasons for respective performances from this products. AVG is the most downloaded on the internet, i wonder why? But personal advice is USE INTERNET SECURITY OH! BETTER THAN SO CALLED ANTIVIRUS.

Been using avast for over 5 years now and it hasn't given me cause to cry. I'm always getting online to recieve updates. Not saying its the best, just personal experience. My belief is tat all antiviruses are not 100%. If one antivirus can do it all,why have newer versions? The makers leave loopholes in the programs, probably create a virus tat can get thru n then when your pc gets infected, they tell u that their antivirus software can handle it so u go to them for upgrade or download from them a new program. Wat do y'all think?

avg, stupid anti-virus couldn't detect and 'quarantine' as it usually does.

I need hlp with getting rid of autoron.inf on my system. My avast dosen't seem to see it as a worm/T-horse during scans but if i copy files from the system to a laptop running Mcafee the Mcafee detects the autorun.inf.

Actually there is definitely no best antivirus I know yet. This is because Antiviruses mainly use virus signatures to detect viruses. As such, it is as if the Antivirus company with the largest database of Antivirus is the best. AVG sometimes has the highest virus database. Kaspersky once topped too. McAfee has never topped since they topped in 2002. Norton is known for its smart heuristics. Kaspersky also has nice malware counter technologies like ichecker, e.t.c. As for me, I don't use AntiViruses, and I can assure you that a virus has never entered and can never enter my system without my permission. I am the kernel of my PC.  Cool I dance on the sky
