for your choice of antivirus, its based on monthly reviews based on so many factors.
the last review shows:
1, kaspersky(doesnt just delete an infected file;it disinfects it to maintain your files)
1,  c.a
2, avast(it doesnt really tolerate viruses,it deletes)
3, dr web

i hate to disappoint u, eset nod32,norton,mcafee,avira,avg r not even in the top 10,
as for the sality virus, the best way to treat malware, viruses, trojans is to use live cds, (in this order,dr web, kaspersky live cds r the best, the run on linux)
so if your treating a sality virus, make kaspersky live cd  with bart pe and boot your pc with it, it will disinfect it instead of deleting your infected files(avast), be fast, the virus kills running programs with *.exe extensions, your antivirus, programs will start getting corrupt
im really a security freak,this is what i do everyday-a kaspersky expert, (license keys(kaspersky,avast,nod32),blacklist key testers,offline updates,live cds )call me:gbenga odusina 08061679732

avast aint really a nice choice in traeting the sality virus, it doesnt repair, it deletes, by the time it has deleted important files on your system, the program needing the file becomes unstable bringing about an inevitablereformatting of your harddisk, try kaspersky, it disinfects only, those russians r mad

Panda Antivirus I think, since it is free, with free updates as well. Not like the others (Norton & Mcafee) that charge you peridiodicaly for subscription!  Angry  Grin  Grin

There is no Antivirus that seems to be the best per se, but from the experiences i have had with system instability as a result of viruses, of all the avs i have ever used i believe F-Prot antivirus is the best ever. It detects all forms of viruses and malware and cleans them off without tampering with your files. The only downside is that it is a premium av which runs a trial period of 30 days after which it requests for an activation key and if you dont give it it's key, it will quietly go to sleep, leaving your system at the risk of virus intrusion

And the guys who programmed the antivirus coded it in such a manner that after trial expires and u uninstall and reinstall it, it will still detect that it had been in your PC before and that it has xpired. Even if u  delete the strings from systems' registry, it will still "know" that u want to play mago mago.

I have been having problems lately with NOD and AVG not picking up on threats.

I changed to Avast and things are now secure.

I use this in combination with Malwarebytes, Zonealarm and Spybot.

Re: Best Antivirus To Use

It will not be easy to say this is the best antivirus or that is the best antivirus. The reason is because, every individual have an antivirus they believe is the best.
My computer have been infected with a lot of virus,to the state that and i can identify and even manually remove some of them that are not too dangerous.
There is this virus that showed me real pepper!
Win32/chir.B worm
It infected all my files with the extension (.exe, .html,.src)
The major problem was my executable files(.exe).
Avast saw the files as infected with win32.salility whatever and wanted to delete my file.
I tried a lot of antivirus to remove the virus and salvage me files but most could not clean my files from the infection. It was only node32 and trendmicro that were able to clean my files from
Win32/chir.B worm infection.
Some of the files were destroyed but i was able to recover some of them.
If this 2 antivirus can do what others cannot do, then it is the best antivirus for me. I really like them is just that i do not have full registeration for them.

Avira is another nice free antivirus. Its what i am currently using since the trendmicro and node32 have expired. If any have crack, keygen or way to make them fully registered, i will be seriously interested. Grin

Symantec Norton Internet Security 2009. No doubt about it. I need an all around package that has an antivirus, antispyware, firewall, antiphising etc. With 3 licenses for $59.99 a year, u can split the costs between urselves. I love the way it detects any computer probing your system on a network like starcomms that luvs banning people using p2p. The antivirus is also very good at detecting the latest viruses. It's been generally acknowledge as no. 1 and the most important of all, it doesn't consume your systems resourves. Symantec have really improved themselves. I always believe in paying for a good service. If u want any of those free antiviruses, be prepared for wahala and low (and in most cases no) support. The only problem i have with it is with the update process. On a slow internet connection, its quite frustrating and its like the update servers are slow.
