No matter how much we all scream, nothing's going to be done.

It was just a group of people from no where that burnt the boy. How do u all expect the government to arrest people of unknown faces? No one knows where these people came from or where they stay.
There is video footage and lots of eyewitnesses. they can find out who was there if they want to.

Quote from: goodguy on October 22, 2005, 10:43 PM
I believe it's the boy's fate. If it hadn't happened that way, who knows, the boy might have become the Adolf Hitler of tomorrow.

Only God knows why HE allows things to happen to humans. Or will you tell me God was sleeping when the whole thing happened? HE definitely has the power to have prevented what happened to the boy. Let's blame no one for the death of the boy. I believe that's his fate.

Sorry goodguy if I have to cut in here, but this here is making my blood boil.
So if I'm understanding your position correctly, we should do nothing if terrible things happen to people, after all, God could prevent it and he didn't, so who are we to judge?

Here you're using religion to justify inaction in the face of a terrible crime. You know, when the crusaders were sacking Montségur in the French Languedoc, they used exactly that kind of reasoning. When they were about to enter the fortress, a knight was asking the question to his superior: How can I recognise the heretics from the true catholics? There was a simple reply: Kill them all: men, women and children. God will recognise his own
These are the ethics of a medieval ignorant barbarian, I hope they're not yours.

So promise yourself that next time YOU get an opportunity to do something good, you WILL use it. No matter how small a thing it is, maybe as small as offering a seat to an old person in a crowded bus/train (I can't believe how many people who WANT to do this, don't do it because they feel SHY of doing it.).

Instead of blaming others, let US make this world a better place to live in. If you can't do that, you have NO RIGHT to blame that reporter or anyone in that 50+ people crowd.

by the way, if you think that its someelse's job to step ahead and start the petitioning process, what makes YOU any different from any of those 50+ people? (Instead of pondering over that dead kid, ponder over yourself)

Let me start by saying you are very correct.  We all need to do our part.  This is exactly why we have a "Neigborhood Watch" group in our area.  If you see someone doing wrong, we don't just sit around we go into action.  We cannot expect the authorities to be every where all the time.  We, as a society and as an individual, need to do our part to keep those around us safe.

this is SAD, what is the future of nigeria turning into? is burning people now a law? whatever Samuel did does not deserve such punishment, it is far too extreme.

Exact cause of our problems. Why don't u shout first and see what happens. Believing nothing can be done is a looser's mentality (i aint callin u 1)...You don't win if u don try.
Moreover it only shows that this boys death don't mean much to u...otherwise u'll find a way to help bring justice. I'm sure u will if the boy was your son or brother

Are you GOD to know he would have been an adolf hitler. Why think in that line if this was just an allegation. What gave u the belief that the guy was guilty of the crime enough to be considered another adolf ?

Remember this boy was accused or kidnapping and not murder...why was he killed by jungle justice.

My eyes swelled wit tears as i write this...and i'm ready to do anything to bring this people to justice. I say it openly I'm ready. If we have to protest to the presidency. I'll do it.

Lagosian are characterised by cowardice of the highest order. If a child of such age could be lynched with nobody present to rescue him..well, ihave vowed that many would have visited their graves including myself if such fate met my nephew(God forbids!) just yesterday, the 22nd of August, 2005.

Just around 4pm, a neighbour's son of about 5years was nowhere to be found and this quickly raised an alarm especially at a time when child kidnap has become the order of the day. my brother's wife joined in the search for the son and before you would say 'wonder' news broke out that my nephew (a 12 year old boy) was seen with the missing son earlier that morning.

Shouts of 'to where did you take the small boy?' echoed around my innocent and confused nephew. I was at home sleeping, tired from my fasting, and this horror lasted. My brother's wife was stunned and she ran to call my brother. Dirty slaps were already reigning this innocent victim's face while the mother(my brother's wife) continuosly challenged every hit until the 'missing boy' was found playing somewhere down the street....the community would have witnessed an 'Ebira madness' had they 'touched' my nephew that fateful saturday. Until lagosians rid cowardice and act as 'men' more of this will keep hapening. may the boy's soul rest in peace and may the community where this evil took place wake up from their sleep and ...nothing more to say

Crime committed by the public. The press enjoyed it and took video shots. The public approved it. Now we hear screams of crime against the law. What kind of people do we have in Nigerian? How many demostrations happened after the crime? How many press programs interviewing the IGP of police regarding the matter? But over some stupid pay cut, you would see all of them on the streets demostrating they want a better pay, or other stupid issues. Especially those government worker unions.

Honestly Nigerians located in Nigeria are heartless (An umbrella, yes), and this crime would continue to repeat itself, if all we can do, is shout online for the world to hear us. What happened to the press, what happened to the NGOs ?  What happened to our instruments of letting the government hear us. Do we really feel for this dead kid? Are we really sorry for what happened?

Its a crime by the public and would continue to remain one, as long as we don't do anything physical about it.

I really honestly think, we do have a long way to go. Those crime preprators are working on the street for christ sake. They are known, and you say that country in not a lawless country. Na wa oh. May the soul of the child remain in perfect peace. Thats all I can say.

Make una leave issues. There is nothing, absolutely notin any man can do about it. We as normal regular citizens cannot do jack about it y??? I tell you

Many of us are hungry. We never chop belle full so we nor fit go dey hala on top of wetin nor really concern us.

We have more illiterates and semi illiterate amongst us. The person occupy a very important class in our society and they are ignorant of the processes, ethics and the rule of law thus there may not have seen the wrong in the act as depicted by the news men and other standing around and recording with staring with glee at the horror movie as it was been acted without script before all to see.

Our leaders do not care. This attitude has also filtered down to the least individual on the streets. There was a police station not too far from where this action was happening, what did the men and women of the police do to stop that action. Why cry when the head is already off?Huh

The few ones that have taken the initiative to do something about this kind of situation in the past have been taken through horrendous situations. They have been branded as too knows who should mind their business. Have you tired to help an accident or robbery victim before??? If you have you will understand what I mean here and if you have not, I beg u in d name of everything that is good, DO NOT TRY IT!!!.

In any case, there is no smoke without fire. The boy died as a result of many reactions that were sparked off by a singular action. For us to solve problems like this, we have to find the root cause if it. There are so many other similar of more drastic cases that we have seen before and up till date, we never hear say anything happen to them. Clifford Orji,  Okija shrine etc.

Ol boy make we leave that side oooh. The problems of this country pass this one. According to a UN report recently, we need about 16 billion dollars to solve our educational problems. If we are adequatedly educated, we will now see why we ought not do such. We will realize why we cannot pass human waste on the bridges. We wil understand that we have rights too and as such can challenge of policeman who u fell is out of line with out the fear of getting shoot, u feel me??? Na only God nai go fit help us for the one wey we dey so

So that we all might learn…

I don't think a "merciful" G=d would want to murder an 11 year old child because he "might" become the next hitler. he would have murdered hitler when he was 11 if that was the case.

I only said God knows why he allows things happen to we humans. God is omniscient. He's all-knowing. He makes things to happen in HIS OWN WAY in order to prevent the unfortunate unforseens; so as to benefit all mankind.

Holy cow, I can't believe what I am hearing.  Not again, well, so is a perfect example on Nairaland itself, from a nairalander.

By the way someone talked about poverty which was the main reason why people didnt show their concerns  Roll Eyes What a thing to say.

As I said most just pretend to be sorry, many think the child must be some "abami eda", and most think its just one of those things that can't help but occur.

Yet you call hausa people butchers  during riots!!! This occurence happened on a broad day light in an open crowd, to a helpless 11 year old kid. Open your eyes guys !!!

We do not have morals again.... 11 years old robber or....... must have been sent if actually the crime is true. Those that kill the boy must have done that to cover up. They should be arrested. Send the news and films to NTA  Newsline

NEWSLINE ko, newsROAD ni! Those ones will only show you OWAMBE news. It's a pity the little boy died such a very pianful death. It is not his case only that pains me that much, what about this man that was burnt in Iyana-Ipaja 2weeks ago accused of kidnapping his son. Another painful part of it was that the little boy was watching his dad transformed into ashes. Then, he started crying, "daddy! daddy!!....."
Just yesterday, a youngman was testifying in church on how he was nearly burnt when he was called a thief by the thief himself because he didn't allow the thief steal his cellphone. He was eventually saved by an old woman who insisted they have to burn the 2 of them if they won't allow the boy explain what happened. The rest is now history.
The issue now shld be, " when will this jungle justice especially in lagos be minimised", because knowing Lagos, it can't be stopped.
(b)what has been the police reaction to all these nonsense?
(c) Does that mean they (police) cannot work with the evidence(video footage) of the 11yr old's murder?
   MAY GOD HELP US!!!! AMEN

I read someone talking about the link to the video. Does anybody have the link to the video? Please post it.
