Coup In Thailand
« on: September 20, 2006, 07:20 AM »

There has been succesful bloodless coup in Thailand while the Prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra was away attending the UN General Assembly New York. Deputy Prime Minister and chief aide Chidchai Vanasathidy has been taken into army custody. Army chief Gen Sonthi Boonyaratglin said in a TV address that the coup was necessary to unite the country and the military has no intention of holding on to power. He claimed the ousted prime minister had caused unprecedented rift in society, corruption and nepotism.

I don't agree with Gen sonthi that coup is the only way to take the prime minister out of office  because Democracy rules!. So the people of thailand has to decide that not him.

Watch that General stay in power longer than he stated.  They always start off with good intentions, but once they taste that power, they end up staying.

I'm not a fan of military rulers. They posses nothing to make them a better ruler.Better fighters they are, not rulers.
