What Name Should I Give My Child?
« on: September 20, 2006, 01:37 PM »

It is very important to find out the meaning of names before naming your child. Some names has some spiritual implications.

Most parents name their children due to many factors;

- environmental factors
- pressure from peers and traditional belief
- religious factors,
- what others name their child
- circumstances surrounding the birth of the child
- etc.

Many children after becoming an adult decide to change their names base on the effect of that name on their lives.

What really is a good NAME??? Huh

I have some few names here, with meaning, then country of origin. Try one out.

Whatever happened to Nike, Tokunboh, Bimbo etc etc

Why do we go for names like
Rhea Grin,
Tatasha (more like pepper);
Aaliyah (the only one I know is dead);
Acacia (as well as Iroko, Mahogany, Whistling Pine etc etc)

Let's go back to the roots and give our children names that define their identity.

Nice one fromRhea.
I have preference for very uncommon root names based on you tribe with religious meanings e.g.
Mogbekeleoluwa (i put my trust in God) Mo, Mogbeke, gbeke
Mofoloruntele ( i use God has my foundation) tele
Ibiyofunoluwa (Born to praise the Lord) ibiyo
This are just some but it all depends on u.Frankly speaking i don't believe in English names for a Naija pikin. Wink Wink
