greatest nairalanders, i have been reading and watching with mounting interest argument accusations and counter accusations, insurgencies and counter insurgencies about the true state of financial health of IBPLC. Please let us all sheathe our swords and pray tha the global financial meltdown does not affect our nation, and all institutions therein including Intercontinental Bank Plc.

my major problems with IBPlc is that they are very slow towards customers. I could remember that it took them over 7months to give me my ATM and for the past one year despite different mails and filled forms at their bank(especially my branch at FALOMO, Marble House) regarding INTERNET BANKING, there has been no response till now. You can imagine that I spend my money calling customer service every time to find out about my balance.

Like i earlier said, the issue of global economic recession is not only affecting nigeria banks especially Intercontinental, it is a global thing. I dont just want it to affect our nation and any of its economic institutions, so that as nigerians we will not collectively share directly or indirectly from it negative impact. We have belaboured so much this issue of Intercontinental, and high think it is high time we stopped fuelling this issue rather than recommending to the management of the bank if there is any suggestion that can drive the bank forward and of course drive the economy. I am very sure for Intercontinental bank to head for liquidation just ike that, then the country economy must be on the brink of disasater. So brethren, let us pray that all our banks must have shocks that can absorb the global economic meltdown, because you and i will not run to Zimbabwe if our economy collapses. KUDOS TO EVERY ONE THAT HAS CONTRIBUTED, THOSE WITH CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISMS AND THOSE WITH DESTRUCTIVE CRITICISMS.
ONE LOVE

have u heard their new promo on the radio? open an acct with 30,000(or thereabouts) don't touch it for one month and you stand to win flenty flenty moto etal
with the previous insistence on minimum account balance, then the so called 'atm outage' i can only assume the are growing desperate because of their diminishing liquidity.they may wind up pulling everyone else, down, which is what i'm afraid of. i have been contemplating keeping my money under the bed for the time being(this shit happened in Brazil in the 90s). nothing more dishearntening than losing your disciplined life savings to some banker's irresponsibility

@ topic
thank God people have now started to share my sentiments; i don't freaking care about the belligerence among Nairalanders neither do i care about IBPLC staff coming to put up a line of defense
i am a realist by birth and will forever remain so,
the so called IBPLC staff, i have some issues for you;
sometime in 2008, u people started charging 10 bucks for ATM withdrawals personally i ignored it cos i have structured my life in a way that such amount ain't a problem
u guys metamorphosed to 50 bucks, only God knows where u will end, unfortunately,
i heard u guys saying cost of operating ATMS, the same reason MTN was charging 50 bucks per minute becos they were running most times on Gen.sets and we cut them some slacks, till competition became stiffer and light became more deplorable ironically, they charge less than 25bucks per min today oh! did i forget something, they now charge per second, i laugh.
your competitors that refrain to join your dubious train are they not operating on the same business pedestal? or you think that your exploitative maverick impresses me, i doubt.
in the banking sector, i know there is what you call account value and account volume which the duo has become a pertinent area of interest to most New generation bankers, who makes up your account volume? corpers, students, market women etc, they don't come with so much deposit no doubt but they always come en mass' then i ask;
does it mean that those cadre of individuals are no longer considered during decision making? becos Erastus and co can afford to attend board meetings in the UK now renders the lower class insignificant, its' a shame for you to wake up and tell a corper with a monthly salary of 9,500 three months ago to open an IPSA account with 1k only for you to come tomorrow to tell him to give you a minimum of 10k. u guys are insane?
i have tried so hard to give myself another reason to stay with you but unfortunately i couldn't
My ATM Expired and I went for renewal, after applying, 1k was deducted from my account, i didn't complain, so i instructed my branch to send it to another branch for convenience, another 1k was deducted i didn't complain on the arrival of the Card, it came without pin after which i was asked to apply again for the pin which i did still without complaints
to my greatest chagrin, another 1k was deducted and this time with no SMS alerts, when i realized this, i went to CS and complained Ive been over charged, she said it will be rectified, till thy kingdom come, maybe it will be my IBPLC burial contribution
the last time i complained about that same issue, the non living thing they kept as customer service had the temerity to tell me and i quote ''that is inter for you'' but if i like, i can go through a protocol that is worse than having lunch with Osama Bin laden, i weighed my options and resolved to let the sleeping dog lie, oh!!! i forgot to say that it took exactly eight weeks b4 i had a functional card, what a bank?
at a point, i decided to be using the account strictly for savings so that i wont have cause any longer to withdraw to know if they will slow down on hidden charges for where.
The one that annoyed me most was that an interest of about 4,600 was paid on the account between october 2008 to march 2009 so they thought i wont notice those extra digits to my greatest mortification, the interest was gone, without any notification, neither the normal SMS nor Email. that same day i withdrew money from one of their ATMs, the money was deducted but no cash was dispensed though it was from a different account,
when i met my account officer, he gave me a form to fill and the next morning i received a mail from my bank on behalf of inter switch telling me they have received my complaint that it will be rectified after Five working days with this clause
''Please note that there is a maximum resolution period of 5 working days after which the claim must be accepted or declined by the Acquiring Bank'' meaning that if Inter denies responsibility which of course is in their interest to do so then, my money is gone and like i predicted the money is history, i must reiterate here that i have had that experience, countless times with my other accounts but with inter, its a NUKE what haven't you people done?
After you guys declared the Ambiguous first quarter second quarter blah blah blah! how much did u pay eventually as dividends? Did i forget that recurrent expenditures, non existing liabilities were on the high side why not? when you have a plethora of ATMS scattered every where stealing peoples money, you guys invest so much in ATMs cos it rakes in copious amounts for you, with shareholders funds, you buy ATMs, charge them COTs and hidden charges on their account, charge them for withdrawing their same money that you traded for loans and bonds with interest in the end when its time to declare profit you start listing cock and bull expenditures that will drag the profit so low all to make money for your self at my detriment , You guys have come to the end of the road
On the 3rd of this month,i saw this captivating thread so i rushed down to the nearest IBPLC ATM to check my balance, again 1k has abstracted no alerts no apologies nothing
annoyingly, i withdrew 100k in 5 successions of 20k each on checking my balance they collected their almighty 250bucks no doubt but another 1k developed wings, invariably, at this point in time, they have structured their system such that an undiscerning customer with huge account must pay tithe to Erastus as the SENIOR PASTOR OF IBPLC
i operate other accounts no doubt, but my IBPLC account has made me a regular face in their CS that i now have a nick name.
imagine if i had given all that to the beggar next door, the blessing could last me till year end unfortunately, i made Erastus richer
i am not advising anybody to go to any bank but know ye that AGBERO DON BUY SUIT as of today, Ive succeeded in removing almost all my liquid cash with them except for
their 10k also all my investments are undergoing the termination process, if not for anything, for the fact that i don't have contact with that lettuce that calls herself customer service anymore.
Don't misunderstand me, i am leaving not because of their distress speculations though i still believe say NA CONDITION MAKE CRAYFISH BEND but the fact that an institution as big as theirs betrayed my trust by stealing from me without due apologies and i can assure them that once they resolve this their MADNESS, i will be the first to check in,
call it demarketing,call it unethical call it any bullshit that comes to your tabula rasa skulls my dear, do not forget the fact that that money was hard earned and perhaps Erastus has forgotten how Nigerians Suffer to make money
IBPLC, i Still love you but God loves you more, BURN IN HELL

It's quite amazing that this thread simply shows a perfect example of how rumours affects market in the world of trading. If this guy was to pass this kind of information abroad, the share price of this company would fall nothing less than 20% in just a day.
Individual can never tell if a bank will fall when we have a body like CBN in place. Stockbrokers who trade on NSE floors and fund managers have access to first hand information like this. If this piece of information was true it will be clearly reflected in the stock market with the share price enjoying a free fall as all these fund managers and stockbrokers will get out first before individuals get to know. Internal staff could however spread the rumour if you have access to the bank quarter earnings.There are other banks who currently have their share price close to 1 naira so what is the fear about this bank.
If at all the bank is in crisis increasing their minimum balance will definately not be what they will adopt but limiting their opening balance to almost 0 naira. Increasing minimum balance simply means the bank as attain a standard in which only rich people can bank with them. Grow up guy. Dont infect the economy.
