Wow, it's as if you are taking this really personal. But I agree with you though, under no circumstance should one neglect one's mother.

@topic: Not so fast dude, no one should do any cursing just yet. If the mum's husband is alive, then he (the husband) is her primary care taker. That however doesn't mean that her children (whether sons or daughters) should neglect her completely. If on the other hand the mum's husband is dead, then (at least from a christian point of view) her primary care takers become her children -- The bible says this is pleasing in God's sight (I'm no preacher by the way). If the man neglects his mother when he should be taking care of her, then it's his own IRRESPONSIBILITY, even if he's getting it by listening to his wife or girlfriend. His problem is not his wife or girlfriend, he's just using them as an excuse to be irresponsible. Someone needs to wake him up to his responsibility, but no cursing sha o

Well said - the son has no one but himself to blame for not taking care of his mama.

If you have to choose betwen your mother and your wife, choose your wife.
If you know you want to make your mother the main woman in her life, then marry her.
What would you do if your wife says she cares about her mum more than she cares for you?

Every wife has the right to be the Queen of her/ husbands house, Every mother inlaw was Queen in her own house so she shold not try and take over the sons house. Its a matter of letting go. Every one has their life to lead so why the hell should my mother inlaw lead my life for me. A wife is not an instrument. In this case better do not get married. stay with your mother and see if you will find a woman that will agree to marry you in your mothers house

Why do you choose to marry if you are going to only cater and listen to your mother? Rightly as mamaput said, a woman has the right to feel like the queen in her house. How long do you expect her to live under the shadow of your mother? Am not saying totally neglect your mother but know where your responsibilities lie and assign accordingly.

I never had a mother inlaw but a father inlaw and sisters inlaw and a brother in law. The brother in law was a" everyone is on his own type" When ever the father inlaw called my ex will run and do what ever his father wanted from him(In his fathers house) when ever his sisters called her will run and do what ever they wanted in their house. Sometimes thé sisters needed money he will ask me, i will look into our buget(that was my work) and tell him if it was possible or not and what we can give them. They mostly got what they ask for. Sometimes i will tell my ex its high time he phoned his people to say hi. Till today i still am frendly with the sisters, till today i still tell him one of the sisters needs money. One of them still comes to me and i help her out were i can and how i can. with a bit of money and sometimes with foodstuff, then she is always broke because she is a shopping addict and has a lot of depts. But never ever did any of them come to tell me how to run my house.

can't both co-exist without any issues? From the Biblical viewpoint, a man must choose his wife overall others. However, that should not excuse you from taking care of your mom when the need arises.
