Crime In Nigeria
« on: September 27, 2006, 02:53 PM »

Hi guys I'm new here and by the way I'm not Nigerian I'm Australian. Anyways i have alot of interest in countries especially in Africa and Nigeria is a particular country that I'm interested in mostly with all the chaos and turmoil and conflcits that are going on there and also because Nigeria is Africas most populated country and it's population is big compared to most Africa countries which have small populations.

Anyways to get to the point the topic I'm talking about is crime in Nigeria and how you as Nigerians cope living in a country such as yours which is completely crime ridden. Also how safe do you feel when you go out in public ? do you always have fears of getting robbed shot raped killed etc and what security and safety measures do you use to protect yourselves against crime.

I know that all wealthy Nigerians live in houses with heavy security such as high walls with barb wire fence or electric fences bars on the windows and doors armed guards and alarm systems which is similair to the way in which wealthy and middle class people in Johannesburg South Africa live.

Also Lagos is ranked the most crime ridden city in the world and Nigeria was also last year ranked as having the highest crime rate in the world. Street gangs are the main cause for the crime and violence in Nigeria and organised crime such as the mafia are also a major problem to.

The police are also very corrupt in your country and they are known to murder rape extort and steal from honest law abiding citizens such as yourself and it must be hard living in a country where your not just a target to the criminals but your also a target to the police aswell.

Army soldiers also committ alot of the crime in Nigeria to especially violent crime such as murder and rape and the army are also used to help tackle the crime problem in your country and there are soldiers especially in Lagos which patrol the city streets.

Anyways it must be hard for you guys there but I'm sure alot of you are happy in your country and I'm in no way trying to criticise your country at all I'm just trying to get a clear perspective of exactly what life is like there for you guys and would be interested in hearing your guys oppinions in regards to how you cope with the extremely high levels of crime in your country.

Thanks

Every situation in life is sort of relative. The crime rate is high, especially in the major cities like Lagos, but it's not like you see gangs roaming the streets with guns and robbing people. Although the security level is not comparable to developed countries, it's not a banana republic. Nigerians are more worried about employment, health and their general welfare than getting shot and robbed walking home from the bus stop.
When you compare the crime rate with the size of the population, it's safe to say that it's not doomsday yet in Nigeria. Nigerians have adjusted to the sometimes harsh realities of crime. They still go about their daily lives without thinking of someone lurking in the corner to rob them.
Despite the grime pictures often painted outside, folks still enjoy themselves as much as they can afford.

CoTrac Vehicle Tracking & Recovery

Why do I need CoTrac?
VEHICLE THEFT IS A REALITY TODAY.
Today, vehicle theft is on the increase by the day. The cost of living is so high and crime is becoming the order of the day. Alarms and other deterrents are not enough. Depending upon where you live and what make and model you drive, you may be at risk. There is little one can do to prevent a car from being stolen. However, with CoTrac you can take control and ensure that if your car is stolen, you'll get it back.

DISABLE IT? THIEVES CAN'T EVEN FIND IT!
The CoTrac equipment is hidden within a vehicle (not even the owner knows where it is). It takes an average of 3 hours to hide a CoTrac system which nobody knows even after installation. Remember! Its not only you in panic, , they also are.

COTRAC GUARANTEES RECOVERY!
With the purchase of a CoTrac, you receive a two-year Limited Recovery Warranty. With this Recovery Warranty, if your vehicle is stolen and not recovered within 24 hours, CoTrac will refund the purchase price of your CoTrac system . Additional warranties that extend your coverage are available. Contact us for details.

ALL THIS AND AN INSURANCE DISCOUNT, TOO!
Vehicles equipped with a CoTrac Vehicle Recovery System may qualify for a discount on insurance. For example, IGI offers all CoTrac owners a discount of as much as 50% on their comprehensive fire, theft, and vandalism premiums.

YOUR VEHICLE SAYS "HERE I AM!"
The CoTrac system reports to you on your cellphone the actual location of your vehicle even to the street name. How better can it be… You are still in control wherever your vehicle is. Just flash your car!

secure ur car simple

we even have street level maps that show actual location of the cars in Nigeria and beyond up to street level,
