Register Your Screenplays With The Writers Guild Of America
« on: September 27, 2006, 08:50 PM »

In view of the remarkable dramatic prose I have been reading here, I am confident that many of you can write fantastic screenplays and simply turn your best works into screenplays. And register them with the Writers Guild of America (WGA).

But, please, if you don't know how to write screenplays, search Google for links  or simply download the screenplay of Naked Beauty co-authored by Ekenyerengozi Michael Chima and Chika Onu on http://kissesandroses.blogspot.com and also posted on Nairaland. Naked Beauty includes the logline, synopsis and film treatment to make it a model for writing a complete screenplay and you can contact the authors for online advice to improve your screenplays.

Here is the required notice on how to register your screenplay and secure your intellectual property and also expose your screenplays to the leading film agents and studios.

Screenplays sell from $10,000 to over $12,000,000 in the US. And a film student even sold his screenplay for over $500,000.

The Registry has been aiding in the creation of legal evidence since 1927, and has always been a vital instrument of the Guild's service to writers. The Writers Guild of America, west is the home of Hollywood's leading writers, and boasts a membership of 9,500 film and television writers.

The WGAw Registry registers more than 55,000 pieces of literary material each year and is available to members and non-members alike. Writers and other creators are invited to submit material to be archived by the Writers Guild to document their work.

If you have other questions, e-mail the registry or call (323) 782-4500.

the ability to write prose has NOTHING to do with being able to write a good screenplay.

Hollywood studios learned that 60 years ago when they tried to class up their productions by hiring a lot of the most successful and best-respected literary authors of the day to write screenplays.

the screenplays these authors wrote were mostly unfilmable and uninspired. because writing a story is not the same as writing a script.

a screenplay is based on visual language, not on prose. it's a technical document that involves its own skills. and if you don't have those skills, you ain't writing no screenplay.
